Two Persons Arrested on Outstanding Warrants to Appear in Bail Court This Morning

On the 31st of March City Police Officers attended in Richmond, British Columbia to arrest a male that was wanted on an outstanding warrant by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. The male, wanted from an arson-related incident in the Sault back on the 29th of April 2008, had turned himself in to the RCMP in British Columbia. Michael Sawyer, age 47, of no fixed address was escorted back to the Sault and charged with one count of arson, one count of mischief, one count of threaten death and one count of threaten to damage property.

21 year-old Taylor Reid of 880 Airport Road was arrested on an outstanding warrant yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of robbery and two counts of breach of probation. The accused was wanted for an incident back on the 16th of February when he allegedly assaulted a female known to him in the downtown area, dumped her purse and stole her MP3 player, some keys and some medication. The victim received non-life threatening injuries that required medical attention as a result of the robbery.

Three Males Arrested for Possession of Stolen Property

20 year-old John Wayne McGaughey of 176 East Balfour Street, 21 year-old Devon Floyd of 292 Kingsford Road and 18 year-old Raymond Floyd of 292 Kingsford Road were all arrested yesterday morning at 9:50 am at Traders Metal on Yates Avenue and each charged with one count of possession of stolen property. It is alleged that the three males attended at Traders Metal around 9:25 am and attempted to scrap a truck load full of stolen scrap metal. The scrap metal, approximately 2000 lbs of iron and cast aluminum had been stolen sometime overnight from the Old Goulais Bay Road Scrap yard. All three are to appear in court on the 26th of April.

Property Crimes

• Vehicles in the 700 block of Wellington Street East, Albert Street East and in the 100 block of Queen Street East were broken into yesterday. Two purses left inside were reported stolen.
• A travel and a construction trailer in the 400 block of Third Line East were entered yesterday. A chainsaw was reported stolen.
• 7- 10 Steel Rail Ties that were cut into 6 foot lengths were stolen from the Sault Multi Storage yard on Cathcart Street sometime during the past week.
