Suspect charged with possession, breaching release conditions

Sault Police say they seized suspected meth, cocaine valued at more than $4,000

A local man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking after police say they responded to reports of a person breaching the conditions of their release order.

On Sunday at around 2:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to the suspect's residence where he was arrested, Sault Ste. Marie Police said in a news release.

A subsequent search found the accused to be in possession of approximately 14 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 30 grams of suspected cocaine, and $840 in cash, according to police.

Police estimated the street value of the narcotics seized at $4,478.

Paul Quesnel, 32, is charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking x2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order x2

Quesnel was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Quesnel is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
