Sault man charged with assault, forcible confinement

It is alleged that the accused would not allow the victim to leave the residence

On Jan. 2, 2018 officers with the Investigation Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 28-year-old male as a result of a domestic violence investigation. 

In the early morning hours of Jan. 1, 2018, the accused allegedly engaged in a verbal argument with his girlfriend by pushing her, punching her and choking her.  During the assaults, it is alleged that the accused would not allow the victim to leave the residence.

Police were later contacted and the accused was taken into custody. He has been charged with three counts of assault and one count of forcible confinement. He was held for bail court.
