Arrests: A 26-year old male was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief.

Arrests:

A 26-year old male was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief.  It is alleged that the male got into an argument with his girlfriend and when she locked herself into her vehicle he broke the door handle off.  Further investigation revealed that in August of this year the accused assaulted the same female by choking her.  The accused will appear in WASH court Saturday morning.

Friday evening officers from the Street Team arrested 28-year old Steven Turco of 159 Hudson Street- upstairs apartment and charged him with one count of break and enter, one count of attempt break and enter, one count of mischief and one count of resist arrest. It is alleged that the accused attempted to break into a home in the 900 block of North Street. He then attended at a residence in the 100 block of Westridge Road and officers apprehended him as he was leaving the residence.  The accused fought with the officers while they were arresting him.  While in custody at the station, the accused damaged a blanket in the cell area.  He will appear in WASH court Saturday.

21-year old Michael Gingras of 2820 Mission Road, Goulais River was arrested last evening at the Station Mall and charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of assault and one count of breach of probation.  It is alleged that the accused stole 4 bottles of cologne from the IDA Drug store and fled on foot.  He was apprehended by mall security and assaulted the security guard.  At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.  He will appear in WASH court Saturday.

MVC’s

Between 1 pm Friday and 2 am Saturday 6 motor vehicle collisions were reported to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.  One collision in the 600 block of Trunk Road reported minor injuries.  Several of the collisions were related to road conditions.  The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind the public to adjust their driving to the winter conditions that have arrived. 

Property Related

An attempt break and enter into a residence in the 100 block of Cambridge Place was reported yesterday afternoon.  Between 10 am and 4 pm an attempt was made to gain entry without success.

In the early morning several reports were taken of tires being slashed in the downtown area.  Two of the vehicles had been parked in the area of Queen Street East and Dennis Street and two vehicles had been parked in the Casino parking lot.
