Officers observed a Chevrolet van cross through an active railway crossing while the lights were flashing just in front of the oncoming locomotive.

A garage in the 300 block of Douglas St. was entered overnight. Four tires and rims were stolen.

On February 5, 2016 officers observed a Chevrolet van cross through an active railway crossing while the lights were flashing just in front of the oncoming locomotive. Investigation found that the driver of the vehicle was prohibited from driving both under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act. [Charges withdrawn] has been charged for driving while disqualified and will appear in court on March 7. The accused’s vehicle has been impounded for 45 days and charges have also been laid under the Highway Traffic Act.

On February 5, 2016 at 8pm police responded to an escaped prisoner from a local youth detention center. The 16-year-old male accused had just been remanded to the facility earlier that day. Approximately an hour later officers spotted the accused walking and took him into custody without incident. The accused is being further charged with escape lawful custody and will appear in bail court on February 8.
