Notice to Public:

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service has recently received several complaints of persons scavenging recyclable refuse on city streets/ private driveways. The concern with the continuance of this practice is that the persons taking the recyclables have shown signs of aggression and hostility towards both residents, putting out trash and to the city recyclable collectors. As a result on August 18th 2008 The Corporation of the City of Sault Ste Marie passed a by-law to stop scavenging. (Copy of By-law 2008-149 attached.)
City recyclable collectors and residents can now contact the Sault Ste Marie Police Service to enforce the scavenging by-law.
