The City of Sault Ste. Marie and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are reminding the public that under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), off-road vehicles are not permitted on roadways unless a local by-law exists to allow the use of off-road vehicles.

This reminder comes after recent reports of off-road vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles, side by sides and dirt bikes being driven in several neighbourhoods in the west end of the city.

Anyone found violating Ontario Regulation 316/03 under the HTA could face a $110 fine.
