Police say a man threatened a Sault Transit driver and ripped the radio out of the dash of an accessible vehicle after being refused a ride downtown.

Sault Police say on Thursday around 1 p.m., a man approached a transit vehicle in the 700 block of Great Northern Road and demanded to be taken downtown.

When the driver explained that the vehicle was being operated for accessible purposes, stating that they could not take the individual downtown, the accused became agitated.

A press release issued by Sault Police today states that the accused then threatened the operator and attempted to remove from their seat. Officers were also told that the accused attempted to use the radio to call for help before pulling it out of the dash, grabbing the operator's cell phone and leaving the area.

Police located the accused at 4:15 p.m. and he was arrested.

Kenneth Armstrong, 31, has been charged with robbery, uttering threats, and mischief. He has been held for bail court.
