Police say woman tried to pawn $12,000 worth of stolen jewelry

On Dec. 3 2018, officers with the Break and Enter Unit of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 32-year-old Bobbie-Jean Otakwadjiwan-Boyer of Albert Street West for possession of stolen property.

It is alleged that on Nov. 20, 2018, the accused attempted to pawn some jewelry that had been reported stolen from a break and enter the day before. The value of the jewelry was estimated at just over $12,000. Officers were notified by the staff and the property was recovered. 

The accused was located on Dec. 3, and was taken into custody. At that time, she was found to be in possession of personal cheques that had been reported stolen from a break and enter in June 2018.

She has been charged with two counts of possession of stolen property and she will appear in court on Jan. 14, 2019.
