Over the past 2 weeks officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Fraud Unit have received 6 complaints of counterfeit Canadian $100 bills that have been used in different areas of the city.
The bills have been constructed using a fake $100 portion and the transparent hologram portion from a Canadian $5.00 bill. All have contained the same serial number “LG03229158” and have been taped together at the hologram.
In the attached image, you can see the tape lines and the $5.00 hologram on the bills. We encourage everyone to inspect all bills thoroughly before accepting them. Anyone with information about these bills is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Fraud Unit.
