Police clear scene after threat made to Albert St. school (update)

After a heavy police presence at Kina Awiiya Secondary Program on Albert Street West, an investigation is ongoing though police have determined that 'there is no threat on site'

3:45 p.m. update
After an evacuation earlier this afternoon of the Kina Awiiya Secondary Program, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service cleared the building and "determined that there is no threat on site."

In a news release, police added that no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident and officers have cleared the area.

Detectives with Investigative Services are continuing the investigation.

A heavy police presence is reported on Albert Street West as the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigates a threat made to the Kina Awiiya Secondary Program.

“As a precautionary measure, officers are currently working with the Algoma District School Board to ensure all students and staff are evacuated safely,” says a news release.

The public is asked to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
