One arrested in connection to September robbery

SAULT STE MARIE POLICE SERVICE

On Oct. 11, 2017, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Break and Enter Unit arrested 19-year-old Jacques Roy of Wallace Terrace in relation to a robbery.

It is alleged that on Sept. 24, 2017 the accused attended a store in the 600 block of Wellington Street West with another male while wearing masks. The accused (allegedly) had a knife in his possession and demanded cash and other items from the clerk.

The accused obtained an amount of cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets from the clerk and fled the scene. Officers were able to identify the accused and he was taken into custody on Oct. 11, 2017. He has been charged with;

  • One count of robbery,
  • One count of wearing a disguise with intent,
  • One count of possession of property obtained by crime; and,
  • One count of breach of probation

He was held for bail court. The investigation is continuing.
