*************************
On May 17, 2017 just after 5 p.m. officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a Motor Vehicle Collision involving three vehicles near the intersection of Pine Street and Wellington Street East.

All three vehicles were travelling Eastbound on Wellington Street East approaching Pine Street. It is alleged that the driver of a black Chevrolet Trailblazer changed lanes from the centre lane to the curb lane while travelling at a high rate of speed.

The driver did not stop for the traffic in front of him as he changed lanes. As a result, he collided with rear passenger side of a black Hyundai Santa Fe that was in front of him in the curb lane.

The force of the collision pushed the Santa Fe forward causing it to strike the rear of a red Toyota Tacoma.  After the initial collision, the Chevrolet Trailblazer continued off of the roadway striking a building at 1291 Wellington Street East.

There were no injuries reported in the collision and damage to the building was minor. The Hyundai Santa Fe and the Chevrolet Trailblazer sustained severe damage and had to be towed from the scene. The Toyota Tacoma sustained moderate damage to the rear.

The driver of the Chevrolet Trailblazer, a 50-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie, has been issued an offence notice under section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario for careless operation of a motor vehicle.
