The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service from Friday the 19th of September until Thursday the 25th of September laid 137 charges for Highway Traffic Act violations in various locations in the city. The Sault Ste.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service experienced a relatively quiet 24 hours recording 62 calls for service.

BEAVER GAS BAR BREAK INS
On Saturday,the 27th of September 2003 at approximately 1:42 am the accused Richard Marini, age 39 of #302-524A Goulais Ave. and the co-accused James Marini, age 52 of 659 Shafer Ave. allegedly broke into the Beaver Gas Bar at Korah Road and Wallace Terrace. Then on the 28th of September at approximately 3:05 am the accused Richard Marini and the co-accused James Marini broke into the Beaver Gas Bar at 752 Wellington Street West.

Patrol officers located the accused at a residence on Shafer Street shortly after the second break in. The accused were in possession of a dumbbell that was used to break into the Beaver Gas Bar, along with a quantity of cigarettes and raffle tickets from the break ins.

Patrol officers also found the accused to be in possession of two stolen automobiles, a 1988 Oldsmobile and 1991 Dodge. The vehicles had been stolen locally on the 27th and 28th of September respectively.

A further investigation revealed that the accused used hooded sweatshirts to disguise their faces during the break ins. Both accused were arrested and charged on the morning of September 28th with Theft, Break and Enter, Disguise with Intent, Possession of Stolen Property, and Possession of House Breaking Tools.

Richard Marini faces the additional charge of Personating with Intent as upon his arrest he fraudulently personated another male in order to gain advantage for himself by evading criminal charges. The accused will appear in bail court today.

BREAK IN
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated one break in yesterday. At 2:50 pm Patrol Officers were called to a residence in the 100 block of Albert Street West for a break in to a garage. The compliant advised police that nothing appeared missing, however the lock had been damaged.
