Male Arrested for Assault Police and Resisting Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Matthew Parise of no fixed address on the 24th of September at 2:15 am on Willow Avenue and charged him with one count of resist arrest, one count of assault peace officer and one count of person under 19 years consuming liquor.

It is alleged that on the 23rd of September at approximately 2:00 am, officers attended in the area of Willow Avenue regarding a disturbance. A loud party was located at a residence on Willow Avenue and officers advised the owner of the property that the party was going to have to be shut down. As people were leaving, the accused was in the backyard yelling and refusing to leave. Police instructed the accused to leave and he refused and began yelling, swearing and was belligerent with officers. Officers arrested the accused and he continued to yell, resist arrest and spit on the officers. Further the accused kicked the cruiser door and struck one of the officers with it. No injuries were reported. The accused is to appear in court on the 24th of October.

Impaired Driving Arrests

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 31 year-old Joshua Mitchell and 30 year-old Adam Mitchell both of 199 Iron River Road, Echo Bay Ontario on the 25th of September just after 1:40 am on Black Road and charged them both with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit.

It is alleged that on the 25th of September at 1:30 am officers observed a Chev Pickup truck driving erratically and at a high rate of speed in the area of Second Line and Great Northern Road. The truck was observed turning on Second Line East and crossing the centre Lane. The vehicle was stopped on Black Road and the driver, the accused Joshua Mitchell, was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested by officers. When officers escorted the accused back to the cruiser, his passenger, the accused Adam Mitchell, got into the driver’s seat and accelerated away, narrowly driving into the ditch. Officers pulled the truck over once again and arrested him as well for impaired driving. Both are to appear in court on the 31st of October.

Male Arrested for Unlawfully in a Dwelling, Resist Arrest and Mischief

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 24 year-old Kenneth Rivers of 83 Hillside Drive on the 23rd of September at 11:48 pm and charged him with one count of unlawfully in a dwelling, one count of resist arrest and one count of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 23rd September at approximately 11:48 pm officers were called to a residence on Albert Street West regarding the accused forcing his way into a front porch of the residence and falling asleep inside. When officers attempted to wake the accused up he began to fight with them and resisted being arrested. The front door of the residence was found to be damaged. The accused is to appear in court on the 24th of October.

Male Arrested On Outstanding Warrant for Mischief

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 54 year-old Paul Faubert of 44 Riverin Avenue on the 23rd of September at 6:08 pm at the police station on an outstanding warrant and charged him with two counts of mischief. It is alleged that the accused was wanted for an incident that took place on the evening of 18th of August when the accused allegedly attended at the residence of a person known to him and caused damage to his vehicle by denting it and scratching obscene words into the driver and passenger doors. The accused also allegedly drove his vehicle all over the complainant’s front lawn, digging it up and damaging it as well. The accused is to appear in court on the 24th of October.

Female Arrested on Outstanding Warrant

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Melanie Lepage of no fixed address on an outstanding warrant on the 25th of September at 4:12 am. It is alleged that on the 29th of August she failed to appear for prints at the police station and she has been charged with one count of fail to appear for prints as a result. She is to appear in court on the 31st October.

Domestic Related Arrest

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 34 year-old male on the 15th of September at 2:15 pm and charged him with one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 25th of September the accused sent numerous harassing text messages to his ex-girlfriend and at the time he was on probation with conditions that he not molest, harass or physically interfere with her. He is to appear in court on the 26th of October.

Eleven Year-Old Male Assaulted over the Weekend by Two Unknown Suspects

On the 24th of September at 11:58 pm police received a report of an assault complaint that occurred on the 23rd of September between 8:00 am to 8:30 pm. A male youth reported that he was walking eastbound in the area of the ball diamonds near Cunningham and the new school construction area when he was jumped from behind by two persons wearing red hoodies and blue pants. He was kicked and punched continuously and the males then fled from the area.

The victim received serious non-life threatening injuries as a result that required hospitalization and medical treatment. Further description of the suspects - both were average height and build and wearing shoes. The investigation is continuing.

Motor Vehicle Collision involving to Child Pedestrians

On the 25th of September at 6:31 pm Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a motor vehicle collision on Wawanosh Avenue near Blake Street involving two children. It is alleged that the two children, ages 10 and 8, ran across the roadway in front of a Honda car that had been travelling eastbound on Wawanosh Avenue and both were struck. Both children were transported to hospital by EMS with serious non-life threatening injuries. There have been no charges laid at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

Theft Reports

• A red Davinci mountain bike was stolen from the Algoma University property on Friday.
• A bike was stolen from the Market Mall property on Sunday
• A purse was stolen out of a vehicle on Saturday evening.

Mischief Reports

• Some windows at St. Patrick School on Texas Avenue were smashed out by rocks over the weekend.
• Vehicle tires were slashed on Mark Street.
• Liquor bottles were smashed against the walls of Eastview School on Arizona Avenue.
• Some trucks at a construction site on Goulais Avenue had windows smashed and some trailers had locks cut and were entered.
