The following persons will be appearing in bail court this morning: 1) A 24 year-old male was arrested on the 14th of September at 11:20 am at his centrally located address and charged with one count of assault.
The following persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1) A 24 year-old male was arrested on the 14th of September at 11:20 am at his centrally located address and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on that date at around 11:13 am the accused got into a verbal argument with common-law wife and assaulted her by grabbing her arm and throwing her onto a couch. The victim received injuries that did not require medical attention.

2) 21 year-old Stacey Crowe of 116 Albert Street East was arrested on the 16th of September at a centrally located residence and charged with one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 16th of September the accused called a female known to her on the phone and threatened to get her and to send several persons after her. While police were taking the report from the victim, it is alleged that the accused showed up at her residence and at the time the accused was on a recognizance with conditions not to attend at that address.

3) Three persons are currently in custody at the city police station in regards to a break and enter that occurred last night around 8:46 pm on Brown Street. It is alleged that three male adults attended at a residence on Brown Street all wearing masks over their faces, carrying knives and a rifle and kicked in the door. The males waved the knives at the two residents, a male and female adult, and threatened to kill them. City police attended at the residence and arrested one of the males that was still at the scene. The other two males fled on foot. Through investigation, city police discovered that this was an isolated incident, that all parties are known to each other and it is alleged that the three accused persons were at the residence to collect a debt. The rifle was later discovered to be a pellet rifle. Officers located and arrested the other two accused persons at 1046 Peoples Road, the home of one of the accused, just after midnight on the 17th of September. The only injury reported was to the resident of the home that he received to a hand when he was attempting to restrain one of his dogs during the confrontation. There was no money or property taken.

The three persons that have been arrested are:

1) 21 year-old Eric Richer of #213 1046 Peoples Road that was arrested at the scene At 8:46 pm has been charged with one count of pointing a firearm, one count of use of a firearm during commission of an offence, one count of disguise with intent – face masked, one count of possession of a weapon for purpose dangerous to public, two counts of threaten death or bodily harm, two counts of assault with a weapon, one count of robbery – use of a firearm and one count of breach of probation. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

2) 21 year-old Ernest Richer of #213-1046 Peoples Road was arrested at his residence at 12:08 am and charged with one count of pointing a firearm, one count of use of a firearm during the commission of an offence, one count of disguise with intent – face masked, one count of possession of a weapon for purpose dangerous to public, two counts of threaten death or bodily harm, two counts of assault with a weapon, one count of robbery – use of a firearm and one count of breach of probation. He was on probation a well with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

3) 18 year-old Justin McGregor of no fixed address was arrested at 12:11 am on Peoples Road and is charged with one count of pointing a firearm, one count of use of a firearm during the commission of an offence, one count of disguise with intent – face masked, one count of possession of a weapon for purpose dangerous to public, two counts of threaten death or bodily harm, two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of robbery – use of a firearm.

Impaired Driving

31 year-old Darren Handley of 454 Albert Street West was arrested on the 15th of September at 12:35 am and charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of fail to provide breath or blood sample, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 15th of September around 12:30 am the accused was observed by city police driving his motor vehicle on Albert Street West on at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was also observed striking a curb. When officers checked the accused they discovered that he was under the influence of alcohol. When the accused was searched officers located a small amount of marijuana on him. At the time of the incident the accused was also on a recognizance with conditions to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. Once at the station, the accused refused to provide a breath sample. He is to appear in court on the 24th of October.

Indecent Act & Exposure, Sexual Assault & More

27 year-old Shawn Dunlop of #27 –309 Terry Fox Place was arrested by city police on the 14th of September at 3 pm and charged with one count of indecent act, one count of indecent exposure, one count of sexual assault and one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that between the 4th and the 8th of September 2007 the accused was at his apartment in company of three females, one 13 year old and two 15 year –olds, all known to him. During their visit, it is alleged that the accused exposed himself to the girls and touched one of the 15 year-old girls in an inappropriate manner. At the time of the incident the accused was on a recognizance order with conditions not to be in the company of any persons under the age of 18. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Sexual Assault

A 15 year-old male youth was arrested at his residence on the 15th of September at 10:05 pm and charged with one count of sexual assault. It is alleged that on the 15th of September around 5 pm the accused was on Old Garden River Road when he approached a 47 year-old female, known to him and grabbed her in the genital area. At the time of the offence the accused was riding a bicycle and the victim was walking on the shoulder of the road. The accused is to appear in court on the 23rd of September.


Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated seven break and enters over the weekend. Break-ins were reported to:

1. A garage in the 100 block of McFadden Ave - nothing reported missing.
2. A garage in the 100 block of Corey Ave - small amount of alcohol stolen.
3. A garage in the 4100 block of Queen St. E. - unknown what was taken.
4. A residence in Red Rock was entered and a quantity of ammunition and some
electronics were stolen.
5. A residence in the 100 block of Fish Hatchery Rd. - a pellet rifle was taken.
6. Benson Auto Parts located at 665 John St. - a small amount of cash was
taken.
7. At approximately 4:00 am this morning Guilianos Restaurant, located at 200 Queen St.E. was entered. It is still unknown what if anything was taken.
