Two persons Arrested on Drug Warrant 1) On the 12th of September at approximately 2:55 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Street Team, Emergency Services Unit, the Canine Unit and the O.P.P.
Two persons Arrested on Drug Warrant

1) On the 12th of September at approximately 2:55 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Street Team, Emergency Services Unit, the Canine Unit and the O.P.P. Canine Unit executed a search warrant at 489 Cathcart Street (Main). During the course of the search officers located 64.7 grams of cocaine, 94 Codeine tablets, 1.5 grams of morphine and a small amount of oxycodone. Officers seized two scales and various other drug paraphernalia. Pepper spray was also located. The estimated street value of the drugs seized was $8,700.00.
As a result the following two persons were arrested and charged:

41 year-old Darlene Owl of 489 Cathcart Street (Main Floor) has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon and one count of breach of an undertaking.

39 year-old Claude Corriveau of 489 Cathcart (Main Floor) has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon while not to be in possession of weapons and one count of breach of an undertaking.

Assault

38 year-old Kevin Pine of 1685 Shingwauk Street in Garden River was arrested on the 14th of September at 4:30 pm on Hynes Street and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 14th of September just after 4 pm the accused approached a male, not known to him, that had just left a local restaurant on Queen Street East and started to yell at him. The accused began to kick the 82 year-old male victim in the leg area. Police were called by a witness that provided a description of the suspect. He was located by police on Hynes Street and arrested. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

Domestic Related Arrests for Bail Court Appearances this Morning

1) A 25 year-old male wanted on an outstanding warrant regarding a domestic related incident was located at the victim’ residence on the 13th of September at 11 am and charged with one count of assault, one count of theft under $5,000.00 and one count of reach of a recognizance order. It is alleged that on the 12th of September around 6 am the accused was at his ex-girlfriend’s residence, when got into a verbal argument with her and assaulted her by grabbing her by the arms, shaking her and banging her head into a wall. The accused also stole the victim’s cell phone. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

2) A 23 year-old male was arrested on the 13th of September just before 1 am on Queen Street West and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 13th of September at 12:30 am the accused assaulted his wife by choking her and slapping her in the face several times. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

Motor Vehicle Collisions with Injuries Reported Over Weekend

1) City police attended at a motor vehicle collision on Sunday the 14th of September at 12:40 pm at the intersection of Queen Street and Elgin Street that sent one 73 year-old female to hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. It is alleged that a Chrysler vehicle being operated by a 72 year-old male, was westbound on Queen Street East when it travelled through the red light intersection at Elgin Street. The Buick collided with the Chrysler as a result. The female passenger in the Chrysler was the only person reported injured at the time. The vehicles were severely damaged.
The 72 year-old driver of the Chrysler, Ronald Koury of Elliot Lake was charged with one count of failing to stop for red light under the Highway Traffic Act.

2) City police attended at a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Simpson Street and Forest Avenue on Friday the 12th of September at 2:18 pm that sent both drivers to hospital by ambulance for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries. It is alleged that a 17 year-old female that was operating a Chev Lumina westbound on Forest Avenue, failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection and struck a GMC pick up that was northbound on Simpson Street. The pick-up landed on its roof as a result of the collision. The 39 year-old male driver was trapped temporarily, but managed to get out of his vehicle before Fire Services arrived on scene. Both vehicles were severely damaged.
The 17 year-old female driver was charged with failing to stop at a stop sign under the Highway Traffic Act.

Attempted Purse Theft

A 24 year-old female reported to police that she was walking through the west parking lot of the complex at 379 Lake Street and when she got to Breton Road three persons, two males and a female attempted to grab her purse. She advised she was punched in the stomach area by the female. The suspects ran off towards Boston Avenue, empty handed. The incident was reported by the Victim by phone at approximately 9:15 pm on Sunday the 14th of September. The only description provided was all three were wearing dark clothing and had long dark hair. Officers attended in the area, but could not locate the suspects. No injuries were reported.

Several vehicles were entered and items stolen in the following areas:

Crimson Ridge Parking lot, 500 block of Leigh’s Bay Road, Pinto Drive, Goetz Street, McNeice Street, 500 block of Cooper Street, 1900 block of Queen Street East, Ferris Avenue, Oak Crescent, 100 block of Biggings Avenue, Queen Street at East Street parking lot, 300 block of Bush Street, 100 block of Parkland Crescent, Birchwood Street, 100 block of Denwood Avenue. Items Reported Stolen: cash, change, wallets, FM Ipod transmitter, purse, camera, an Enterprise gym bag, a car manual, utility knife, DVD player, a licence plate, lottery tickets, garage door opener, medication, and vehicle and house keys...

Mischief Reports:

• A residence in the 200 block of Goulais Avenue was egged for the second time.
• A vehicle was damaged in the parking lot of a downtown restaurant.
• A door of a residence on Poplar Avenue was kicked in sometime overnight on the 12th of September.
• A fence around the property of the complex of 23 Terry Fox Place was damaged.
• A fire pit was damaged in a residence yard in the 400 block of Charles Street.
• Beer bottles and Burn marks were left on a front lawn of a residence on Hugill Street.
• A vehicle that was entered on Birchwood Drive has cigarette burns left on the seats – an Enterprise gym bag was also reported stolen from that vehicle.

There was a break and enter reported to a residence in the 1500 block of Trunk Road. Money was reported stolen.
