Male Breaking into Vehicles Arrested
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 37 year-old Lawrence Gatza of 184 Elgin Street on the 10th of September at approximately 9:38 pm on Tancred Street after receiving a call regarding a suspicious male going through vehicles in the area of Spruce and London Street and Wilcox Avenue. It is alleged that witnesses observed the accused entering several vehicles and taking items from them. Some of the witnesses and an owner of one of the vehicles that had been entered chased the accused on foot and called police. During the chase, the accused threatened the witnesses that he had a gun. The accused was observed throwing a purse and other items away while fleeing. A short while later, officers were able to locate the accused on Tancred Street after he attempted to sell a camera he had stolen from one of the vehicles, to a homeowner in that area. At the time of his arrest, the accused was found in possession of a credit card belonging to one of the complainants. Officers also discovered that the accused damaged one of the vehicles that he entered. As a result, the accused has been charged with: the following offences: one count of mischief, one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of possession of a stolen credit card, one count of utter threat to cause bodily harm and two counts of breach of probation. At the time of the offence, the accused was on two separate probation orders with conditions to keep the peace and be good.

Male Arrested for Assault, Threatening and Possession of A Dangerous Weapon
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Brandon McDonald of 332 Cheshire Road on the 10th of September at 3:45 pm on Canal Drive and charged him with one count of threaten death or bodily harm, two counts of assault, one count of mischief and one count of possession of a weapon for purpose dangerous to the public. It is alleged that on the 10th of September just after 3 pm, officers received a call regarding two males fighting in the area of Canal Drive. Police arrived and investigated the incident and discovered that the two males got into a dispute when fishing in the area of Canal Drive that escalated into a physical altercation. When the altercation was over, the accused allegedly spit in the face of the other male, threatened to kill him and his family and then grabbed the victim’s packsack that contained several items, including an iPod, and threw it into the water. When officers arrested the accused they found a miniature baseball bat that was wrapped in electrical tape inside his vehicle.

Male Shoplifter Arrested
27 year-old Stephen May of 28 Best Road, Goulais River was arrested by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service on the 10th of September at 4 pm at Zellers at the Station Mall. It is alleged that he attended at the store just before 4pm and stole two PSP video games. He was apprehended by store security and held for police. At the time of the incident he was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good and was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to report to probation and parole from the 16th of March 2010. As a result he was charged with one count of theft under $5000 and two counts of breach of probation.

Male Arrested for Impaired Driving and Consuming Over Legal Limit after Single Motor Vehicle Collision
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 21 year-old Gregory Lethbridge of 1386 Third Line West on the 12th of September at 6:31 am and charged him with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 12th of September at approximately 5:53 am the accused was operating a 1994 Chev Pickup westbound on Fourth Line West when he lost control of the vehicle at the corner at Allen Side Road, left the roadway and struck the guardrail and a utility pole. When ambulance and police arrived, they found him to be injured and under the influence of alcohol. The accused was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and subsequently charged. The vehicle was demolished and the PUC pole and some of the cables were damaged. The accused is to appear in court on the 18th of October.

Three Domestic Related Arrests for Bail Court Appearance
1) A 21 year-old male wanted on a domestic related warrant was arrested on the 12th of September at 12:10 pm at the Police Services Building and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 10th of September the accused punched his girlfriend in the face while outside at her residence.
2) A 23 year-old male was arrested on the 12th of September at 9:50 pm at the Police Services Building. He was wanted for a domestic related assault involving his girlfriend that occurred at her residence on the 10th of September. During the dispute the accused allegedly grabbed and shoved the victim, damaged her phone when she attempted to call police and then stole her vehicle and fled.
3) Officers arrested a 26 year-old male on the 13th of September at 3:05 am at his residence after responding to a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the accused while in an intoxicated state, assaulted his common law spouse, damaged her phone when she attempted to call police and then kicked her cat. As a result he has been charged with one count of assault, one count of mischief and one count of injure an animal.

Male Arrested for Shoplifting Related Theft
Sault Ste. Marie Police Service officers arrested 47 year-old David Wheeler of #207-222 Albert Street East on the 10th of September at 2:20 pm at Zellers in the Station Mall and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that he attended at the store on that date around 2 pm and stole pair of sunglasses. He is to appear in court on the 4th of October.
