Remanded to Bail Court On the 22nd of October 2012 the accused, 42 year old David Maitland of 379 Lake St. was located at the Sault Ste. Marie Courthouse while attending a court date.

Remanded to Bail Court

On the 22nd of October 2012 the accused, 42 year old David Maitland of 379 Lake St. was located at the Sault Ste. Marie Courthouse while attending a court date. A warrant for his arrest for failing to appear for prints was confirmed and executed and he was subsequently remanded for bail court.

20 year old Jassmine Daoust of 519 Cathcart St. has been arrested and remanded to bail court tomorrow charged with criminal harassment. It is alleged that on the 21st of October 2012, the accused and a wanted co-accused attended a James St. address as well as made numerous unwanted telephone calls for approximately a three hours period on the same date.

Theft and Break and Enters

A theft from a vehicle was reported from Pilgrim St. Stolen from the unlocked vehicle were keys and a GPS.

A vehicle window was smashed on Chambers Avenue between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m.

Eggs were reported thrown at a residence on Anna St.

A trailer was reported entered on Second Line East.

A break and enter was reported to a residence on Reid St while the homeowners were away for the weekend.  The house was described as ransacked. Investigation is continuing.

An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence on Kent Cresent that occurred while homeowners were away for the weekend.  Pry marks were found on a patio door.

A break and enter was reported on Wemyss St. this afternoon.   Entry was gained through a bedroom window. A male was seen fleeing the area wearing a red coat.  Medication was taken.

A break and enter was reported after the fact, that earlier this afternoon in the 200 block of Albert St. East, a female was seen leaving with a rectangular box and a basket full of items.  She is described as aboriginal, 5’8” to 5’10” wearing a light coloured coat. A TV has been reported stolen.

Arrests

City Police were involved in settling a custody issue involving a toddler in the down town area. As a result one male was charged for breach of probation and will appear in Provincial Court on November 26th.

Break and Enters

A break and enter was reported on Northland Road; two bikes and some fishing equipment were taken.

Theft

A 10 foot galvanized utility trailer was taken from a yard in the 1200 block of Wellington Street East.

Other Incidents

There was an attempted theft of medication from a local retirement home.

Police intervened in a domestic dispute on John Street near St Georges Avenue. No charges were laid.

Attempt Abduction

Officers with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service are currently investigating an attempt Abduction that occurred on the 17th September 2012. 

A lone female was walking in the area of Second line West and Goulais Avenue when she was approached by an unknown male.  The male was driving a vehicle described as a black two door car possibly a Pontiac Sunfire or new style Honda Civic.  The vehicle had dark tinted windows and a distinctive C & A Pro logo on the rear window.

The driver asked the female if she wanted a ride.  The female said no and at that point it is alleged that the male exited his vehicle, grabbed her by the arm, and pulled her towards the vehicle.  The victim was able to break free and the suspect fled the scene in his vehicle. 

The male is described as Caucasian, 22- 28 years old, medium build, black hair, and wearing a black hat and sporting a chin strap goatee.   

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in locating this motor vehicle.  Anyone with information with regards to this incident is asked to contact Detective Constable Taylor at (705) 949 6300 ext 389.
