Male Charged with Three Counts of Treatening to Cause Death 42-year old Melvin Pine of 4 Lynn Road was arrested on Friday afternoon and charged with a number of offences.
Male Charged with Three Counts of Treatening to Cause Death

42-year old Melvin Pine of 4 Lynn Road was arrested on Friday afternoon and charged with a number of offences. It is alleged that on Friday the accused attended at residence located in the 100 block of Powley Road and assaulted an elderly male known to the accused and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the victim. It is further alleged that the accused also threatened to harm the victim. At the time of arrest it is further alleged that the accused resisted arrest and attempted to strike the officers who arrested him. It is also alleged that the accused threatened to kill the officers. At the time of these offences the accused was on probation. Mr. Pine has been charged with one count of resist arrest, one count of robbery, 3 counts of threatening to cause death or bodily harm, two counts of breach of probation and one count of assault peace officer.

Male Assaults Girlfriend

A 38-year old male was arrested on October 15th after it is alleged that the accused assaulted his girlfriend by punching her twice in the face. The incident occurred in a downtown residence. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. When officers arrested the accused it is alleged that they found a 5-gram vial of cannabis resin in his pants. The accused has been charged with one count of assault, one count of breach of probation and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.


Breach of Probation

A 42-year old male was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of assault and 4 counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused attended at the residence of his ex-girlfriend and grabbed her and slammed her into door. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with a number of conditions including not to communicate with the victim.

Youth Strikes Youth Security Worker

A 15-year old youth was arrested last evening after it is alleged that the youth struck a worker at a youth security facility. The worker was struck in the arm. The youth has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon.

Female Charged with Mischief

36-year old Lisa Muncey of 202-536 Goulais Avenue was arrested on Saturday afternoon and charged with one count of mischief. It is alleged that the accused threw a rock through a set of patio doors at an address in the 500 block of Goulais Avenue. The accused will appear in court on November 21st.

Male Shoplifter Charged

On Friday evening just before 7 pm staff at Rome’s Grocery Store apprehended a male shoplifter and turned him over to police. It is alleged that the accused attempted to leave the store with approximately $249 worth of unpaid groceries. 42-year old Augustino Greco of 129 Gore Street has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000. He will appear in court on November 21st.

Male wanted on Outstanding Warrant

Around 3 am this morning officers on route patrol observed a vehicle in the area of Goulais Avenue and Second Line West. One of the passengers made a hand gesture to the officers of an obscene nature. As a result of this the officers stopped the vehicle. When officers queried the male who allegedly made the gesture to them they found that the male was wanted on outstanding warrants. 29-year old Brian Stevens of 154 Albert Street East was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court as well as for three counts of breach of probation. The accused will appear in court on November 21st.


Between the 15th and 17th of October City police received 3 reports of break and enters:

1) On the 15th a homeowner in the 500 block of Douglas Street advised that during the daytime hours thieves entered the home and stole video games, movies and decorative swords.

2) On the 16th a homeowner called the City Police at 6:30 am to advised that thieves had entered a garage in the 100 block of Amber Street. The homeowner was unsure if anything had been taken at the time of the report.

3) Sometime between 11:30 pm last night and 12:15 am this morning would be thieves broke kicked in a door at a residence in the 100 block of Wellington Street West. It does not appear that anything was taken.

Motor Vehicle Collision

Saturday evening shortly after 6 pm City Police attended at the intersection of Black Road and McNabb Street for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. A pickup truck operated by 34-year old Daniel St. Germain of 19 Argyle Road was traveling northbound on Black Road. A car operated by 58-year old Kenneth Hunt of 444 Second Line West was traveling southbound on Black Road when it is alleged that he proceeded to make a left hand turn onto McNabb Street across the path of the St. Germain vehicle. Both vehicles received severe damage. Mr. Hunt and his passenger, Donna Hunt of the same address, were both taken to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Officers from Traffic Services are continuing their investigation into this accident and charged are pending.
