The following 5 persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1) A 40 year-old female was arrested on the 28th of September at 9:07 pm at her west end residence and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of resist or obstruct peace officer. It is alleged that on the 28th of September at around 9 pm accused got into a verbal argument with her common-law husband and assaulted him by pushing him and throwing a cordless phone at him striking him in the face. The victim received injuries not requiring medical attention. When the accused was being arrested she struggled with the officers.

2) A 53 year-old female was arrested on the 29th of September at 1:25 am at her downtown residence and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 29th of September at 1:15 am the accused got into a verbal argument with common-law boyfriend at their downtown residence and stabbed him in the chest area and leg with a pen. The argument continued and the accused grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim several times in the leg. The accused also threatened to kill the victim. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

3) A 49 year-old male was arrested on the 29th of September at approximately 6 pm at a downtown residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 29th of September at approximately 5:50 pm the accused attended at his girlfriend’s downtown residence and assaulted her by choking her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

4) A 35 year-old male was arrested on the 30th of September at 2 am at his west end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 30th of September at approximately 1:45 am the accused assaulted his girlfriend at her west end residence by pushing her to the ground. There were no injuries reported to the victim.

5) 20 year-old Aaron Blackned of #4-59 East Street was arrested on Queen Street East at 3:05 am on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. This was from an incident that occurred in the downtown area on the 28th of August when he assaulted a female that was known to him by punching her in the face. The victim had received non-life threatening injuries.

Female Charged with Assault

A 32 year-old female was arrested on the 30th of September at 11:45 am at a downtown residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 30th of September the accused assaulted her boyfriend at his downtown residence by punching and kicking him and throwing a lawn chair at him. There were no injuries reported. She will be appearing in court on the 7th of November.

Youth Charged with Mischief

A 15 year-old male youth was arrested on the 28th of September at 7:45 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of mischief under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the night of the 26th of September the accused along with two other youths, that have not been charged as of yet, attended at Holy Family School on Rushmere Avenue and spray painted the school wall, the day care center shed and some of the playground equipment. The accused is to appear in court on the 6th of November.

DRIVER FROM SINGLE MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION ON WEST STREET SUCCUMBS TO HIS INJURIES

On the 28th of September 2007 at 1:25 am officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police, Fire and Emergency Services attended at the scene of a single motor vehicle collision on West Street near the intersection of Cathcart Street.
A 1993 Saturn that was travelling northbound on West Street, left the roadway and struck a tree on the boulevard. The 21 year-old male driver had to be extricated by Fire Services and was transported by ambulance to Sault Area Hospital for treatment of major injuries. There were no passengers in the vehicle.

The driver has succumbed to his injuries. He is Alan Bordeleau age 21 of 305 Conmee Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Officers from Traffic Services are continuing their investigation into this collision.

Stolen Bike

On the 29th of September at 1:32 pm city police received a complaint from a youth that was robbed of his bike. The youth advised he was at the John Rhodes skate board park when an unknown male pushed the victim off his bike and stole it. The male was last seen heading towards Trunk Road. The male was described as white, 17 to 19 years of age, 6 foot, and black brush cut hair, thin build wearing a brown t-shirt, black pants and skate boarding shoes. The bike was a BMX style Iron Horse that was black with large pegs, silver handle bars and a higher seat than normal. The victim was not injured. City police checked the area with negative results. There were several reports of mischief over the weekend:

1) On the evening of the 28th of September a vehicle that was parked at the Albion Street apartment complex was damaged when a rock was thrown through the window.
2) Some time overnight on the 28thof September, the pop machine near the water front fishing platform the in front of the Station Mall, was damaged.
3) On the 30th of September the Wellington Street and Elizabeth Street bus shelter was damaged – two panes of glass were broken.
4) Some time overnight on the 30th of September a car that was parked in front of a business on Queen Street East near Brock Street was damaged when a pumpkin was thrown at it.
5) A rock was thrown through the window of a car that was parked on Grace Street on the 30th of September.
6) The ATM machine at the Royal Bank on Queen Street East was damaged sometime on Friday evening.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated five reports of break and enters over the weekend.

1) A Break-in was reported to the Queensgate Golf Course, located at 1191 Trunk Road, early Saturday morning. Thieves broke into a storage shed and stole tools and some beer.
2) Vandals broke into a residence on Lakeshore Drive, in Prince Township and caused a large amount of mischief to the premises. It is unknown at this time what was taken.
3) A residence in the 600 block of McKenzie Avenue was entered and a small amount of liquor was stolen.
4) An attempted break-in was reported to a premise in the 400 block of Great Northern Road. The incident occurred between Saturday and Sunday morning.
5) A break -in was reported to a residence in the 200 block of Korah Road. It is unknown what was taken.
