Mischief and Break & Enter

19 year-old Ronny-Ann Agawa of 196 Frontenac Street and a 14 year-old female youth were arrested on the 4th of November at 2:26 am at the Scissors Hairstyling Shop on Queen Street East and both charged with one count of break and enter with intent and one count of mischief under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 4th of November around 2:17 am the two broke into Scissors Hairstyling and attempted to steal approximately $600.00 worth of hair products. A witness alerted police when they heard glass breaking at the business and observed two persons entering. When officers arrived they discovered the front window completely smashed and observed the two females inside carrying bags and attempting to flee out the back. They were both apprehended inside the store. Ronny-Ann Agawa is to appear in bail court this morning and the 14 year-old female is to appear in court on the 11th of December.

Assault

A 34 year-old male was arrested at a local motel one the 3rd of November at 5:15 pm and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 29th of October at approximately 10:30 pm the accused assaulted his common-law spouse by grabbing her around the throat and punching her in the arm. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. This occurred in a vehicle in the downtown area.

Breach & Possession

19 year-old Jake Burch of #4-125 Gore Street was arrested on the 3RD of November at 2:32 am at his residence and charged with one count of breach of a release document, two counts of breach of probation and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that city police attended at the apartment of the accused regarding a noise complaint and when they ran a check on him they discovered he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for breach of recognizance from the 8th of August. At the time of his arrest he was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana. The accused was on probation at the time of the incident with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is to appear in court on the 10th of December.

Impaired Driving

1) 49 year-old Carla Young of 410 Sydenham Road was arrested on the 4th of November at 1:45 am on Korah Road and charged with one count of consume over legal limit. It is alleged that on the 4th of November at 1:36 am the accused was driving her Pontiac Sunfire northbound on Korah Road when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. When officers attended at the scene to investigate the accused was found to be under the influence of alcohol. There were no injuries reported. The accused is to appear in court on the 17th of December.

2) 26 year-old Ryan Frolich of 1413 Leighs Bay Road was arrested on the 4th of November at 1:54 am on Bay Street and charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over legal limit and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 4th of November at 1:49 am the accused was driving his Honda Civic on Bay Street when he lost control of the vehicle, ran off the roadway and crashed into the chain link fencing at the corner of Huron and Bay Street. When officers attended at the scene they discovered the accused to be under the influence of alcohol. There were no injuries reported and the vehicle received severe damage.
At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions that he not consume any alcohol. The accused is to appear in court on the 17th of December.

3) 36 year-old Michael Miller of 329 Alexandra Street was arrested on the 4th of November at 3:30 am on Carmen’s Way and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide breath or blood sample. It is alleged that on the 4th of November at around 3:30 am the accused was observed by city police driving his vehicle eastbound on Carmen’s way with no headlights activated. The vehicle was also observed crossing the center line. When officers were stopping the vehicle the driver struck the curb. Officers checked the driver and they discovered him to be under the influence of alcohol.
When officers were arresting the accused driver, a passenger in his vehicle became very aggressive towards the officers. It is alleged that the male got out of the vehicle with clenched fists and refused several orders from the police to get back into the vehicle. The male continued to approach the officers with clenched fists and was he was arrested. The male also grabbed one of the officers around the leg when being arrested. This male, 33 year-old Walter Miller of 329 Alexandra Street was charged with one count of resist or obstruct peace officer and one count of breach of a release document. At the time of the incident this accused was under the influence of alcohol and was a release document not to consume any alcohol. They are both to appear in court on the 10th of December.

4) 44 year-old Edgar Sharrard of #13-122 Allard Street was arrested on the 3rd of November at 11:20 am on Black Road and charged with one count of consume over legal limit. This accused was stopped during the R.I.D.E. Program. He is to appear in court on the 17th of December.

R.I.D.E Program

During the R.I.D.E. program this weekend, there were 535 vehicles checked, six roadside tests administered, one 12 hour suspensions, two 90 day suspensions given and two charges of consume over the legal limit.

The following break and enters were reported over the weekend:

1) There was an attempt break and enter to an apartment on Wellington Street East.

2) The John Howard Society building on King Street was entered on the 4th of November around 2:05 am. It is not known if anything was stolen.

3) The Sears Furniture Store on Northern Avenue was entered on the 4th of November. A Plasma Television was stolen.

The following mischief reports were taken over the weekend:

1) Eggs were thrown at a residence on Princeton Drive overnight on the 3rd of November.

2) A fence was damaged Queen Street East at the King Apartment Complex.

3) On the 4th of November between 2 pm and 4 pm a vehicle that was parked at the Esquire Club lot had a window smashed and a pursed stolen from inside.

4) A window was broken on a vehicle parked in the World Cars Complex on Trunk Road.

5) A residence on McNabb Street was spray painted sometime overnight on the 3rd-4th of November.

6) Tires were slashed on a vehicle that was parked on Boundary Road sometime overnight on the 3rd - 4th of November.

7) A brick was thrown through living room window of a residence on Indiana Drive sometime overnight on the 3rd - 4th of November at 2:10 am.
