The following persons are to appear in bail court this morning:

Male Arrested for Breaking into Garage and Going Through Vehicles in East End:

20 year-old Kevin Robinson of 53 Copernicus Boulevard was arrested on the 28th of November around 7:45 am on Denwood Avenue and charged with one count of break, enter and commit, two counts of possession of stolen property, one count of obstructing police, one count of failing to attend court and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that just before 7 am on the 28th of November the accused entered and broke into several vehicles on Carlbert Street and stole various papers, a vehicle ownership and a mini-flashlight. The accused then entered a property on Birchwood Street broke into a garage and attempted to steal a four wheeler after pouring gasoline into it and unsuccessfully starting it. The accused attempted to flee on foot with a chain saw, a four-wheeler helmet and a 12-pack of beer but was apprehended by a citizen and police were called. Just prior to police arriving, the accused broke free and attempted to run away, but was quickly apprehend by officers. At the station the accused falsely identified himself. Officers also learned that the accused was wanted on outstanding warrants.

Male Arrested for Thefts Related Offence from Station Mall:

28-year-old Scott Erdman from 308 Huron Street was arrested on the 28th of November at 3:49 pm and charged with two counts of possession of stolen property, one count of theft under $5,000.00 and three counts so breach of probation. It is alleged that officers observed the accused walking in the downtown area, carrying an assortment of brand-new items of clothing with price tags still on them. An investigation commenced and officers learned that the clothing had been stolen earlier from Zellers in the Station Mall. Police further learned that the accused was wanted for another theft incident from the Sears Store two days prior when he stole a jacket and fled from the store. At the time of his arrest he was also found in possession of the jacket.

Domestic Related Arrests:

A 22 year-old male was arrested on the 30th of November at 4:05 am at the police station after turning himself for domestic related charges. He was charged with one counts of assault, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 17th of November the accused threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend over the phone. Officers investigating the incident learned further that the accused assaulted the same victim in mid October and damaged her cell phone after attending at her residence.

A 49 year-old male was arrested on the 27th of November at 1:25 pm at his residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 25th of November the accused assaulted his common law partner at their residence.

Female Youth Arrested for Assault with a Weapon:

A 15 year-old female youth was arrested on the 28th of November at 3 pm at the police station and charged with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on the evening of the 26th of November the accused assaulted a male youth while at a house party. The victim was struck with a beer bottle and had to be treated at hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The accused is to appear in court on the 19th of January 2010.

Weekend Property Crimes and RIDE Program Results:

Robbery Report:


On the 29th of November just after 1:00 am a lone male attended at the Mac’s Convenience Store on Dacey Road and demanded cash. The suspect had one of his hands in his pocket during the demands, but no weapon was produced. The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Officers checked the area with negative results. He was described as 5’8 to 6’0” feet tall, between 40 and 50 years of age, with a grey scruffy beard, wearing a ball hat, burgundy hoodie, blue jeans and a black fleece jacket.

Break and Enter Reports:

• A residence in the 300 block of Pim Street was entered on the 29th of November at around 11:04 am. When the residents arrived home, a lone male suspect ran from the residence. The owners found the home ransacked and numerous items stolen, including jewellery, a purse and a wallet. Officers checked the area with negative results. The suspect was described as being in his early 20’s, approximately 6 foot, wearing a grey hoodie, a black vest and jeans.
• An apartment in the 700 block of Second Line West was entered sometime overnight on the 28th of November. An X-Box, a PS2, video games and DVD’S were reported stolen.
• A garage was entered on McQueen Road. Two bikes and beer was reported stolen.
• Double S Construction on Landslide Road had sheds and vehicles entered. The suspect/s also attempted to break into a garage on the property. Copper wire and small hand tools were reported stolen.

Theft Reports:

• Licence plates were reported stolen off vehicles on Second Line West and Macdonald Avenue.
• A vehicle on St. Basil’s Drive was entered and a garage door opener was stolen.
• A couch was reported stolen from the front lobby of an apartment complex in the 600 block of Macdonald Avenue.
• Gasoline was reported stolen from Pickard Construction on Black Road.
• A Raleigh Mountain bike was stolen from Grove Crescent.

Mischief Reports:

• Christmas light were reported damaged at a residence on River Road.
• Two windows were broken and three sheets of Styrofoam were damaged on a property in the 600 block of Albert Street West.
• A window on the front door of Reggie’s Place Tavern was broken.

RIDE Program Results:

The 2009 Festive Season RIDE Program commenced this past weekend. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service partnered up with officers from the Ontario Provincial Police and conducted RIDE checks throughout the city. This program, which continues into the New Year, is a proactive effort to reduce impaired drivers on our roadways. The following are the results from the weekend:

One Impaired/Consume over Legal Limit charge
Five Roadside Tests administered
One Breath Test administered
