Three Domestic Related Arrests for Bail Court Appearance this Morning

1)      Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17 year-old female youth on the 25th of November at 11 pm at her residence and charged her with one count of assault.  It is alleged that on the 25th of November the accused got into a verbal argument with her common law boyfriend at their residence and assaulted him. 

2)      Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 24 year-old male on the 26th of November at 4:10 am at his residence and charged him with one count of assault and one count of assault with a weapon.  It is alleged that on the 26th of November at approximately 2:05 am the accused assaulted his girlfriend in the parking lot of a local bar.  When two males attempted to assist the female victim, the accused sprayed one of them with bear spray. 

3)      Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 34 year-old male on the 27th of November at 1:29 am and charged him with one count of threatening death, one count of threaten damage to property  and one count of criminal harassment.  It is alleged that on the 26th of November the accused criminally harassed his ex-girlfriend by repeatedly calling and texting her and driving by her residence numerous times.  The accused also threatened to shoot her and burn down her home. 

Impaired Driver Arrested 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 50 year-old Dwayne Marttinen of 128 Upton Road on the 25th of November at 9:29 pm on Upton Road and charged him with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide breath sample.  It is alleged that on the 25th of November at 9:33 pm officers were called to attend the Upton Road area in regards to a possible impaired driver. Police received reports that a minivan was swerving all over the road in the area of Upton Road. Officers located that vehicle parked in the rear driveway of 128 Upon Road with the male driver slumped over the steering wheel.  Officers spoke with the male and he was found to be under the influence of alcohol.  The accused failed to provide a breath sample at the police station and was subsequently charged.  He is to appear in court on the 9th of January 2012.

Three Males Arrested and Charged with Drug Offences during Vehicle Stop

On the 27th of November at approximately 10:44 pm, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service conducted a vehicle stop on Elmwood Avenue just north of McNabb Street.  Three males were inside the vehicle at the time and when officers ran a check on one of the passengers, they discovered that he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for breaching probation orders.  When officers arrested him they found him in possession of a digital scale, drug packaging materials, a large amount of Canadian currency, 56 grams of cocaine, a knife with a blade that could be opened by centrifugal force (prohibited weapon). 

As a result this male, 29 year-old Thomas Fields of 84 Smale Avenue was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon and two counts of breach of probation.  He is to appear in bail court this morning.  The driver, 29 year-old Joshawa Pine of 625 McNabb Street and the second passenger, 31 year-old Robert Stewart of #5-33 Crystal Place, were also charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance.  Both are to appear in court on the 30th of January 2012. 

Shoplifting Arrests:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 15 year-old male youth on the 25th of November at 5:20 pm and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000 and four counts of breach of probation.  It is alleged that on the on the 24th of November at approximately 7:23 pm the accused attended at the LCBO in the Station Mall and stole two bottles of rum. The theft was captured on store video security cameras.  At the time the accused was breaching his probation orders by failing to keep the peace and being of good behaviour.  The accused is to appear in court on the 12th of January 2012.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 16 year-old male youth on the 25th of November at 2:14 pm and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000.00.  It is alleged that on the 24th of November the accused attended at the Wal-Mart store and stole an auxiliary cable.  The accused is to appear in court on the 12th of January 2012.  

Break and Enter/Theft Reports

  • A residence on Maki Road was entered into on the 27th of November between 5:30 and 6:30 pm.  Jewellery, vehicle keys and a change purse containing some cash were reported taken. 
  • A residence on Wilcox Avenue was entered on the 27th of November around 12:46 am.  Nothing was reported taken.
  • A residence on Fourth Line West was entered on the 26th of November between 8:30 am and 10:40 pm.  Jewellery was reported taken.
  • A residence on Oakwood Drive was entered on the 26th of November.  Jewellery, a laptop and some Canadian Tire money was reported taken.
  • A residence on Hargreaves Avenue was entered by two male youths on the 26th of November around 5:18 pm.  The two male suspects were scarred off when confronted by the homeowner.  Nothing was taken.  Both males were approximately 15 years of age, with short brown hair, about 5’4, thin builds and wearing black clothing. 
  • Diesel fuel was reported taken from a vehicle on Cathcart Street.
  • Licence plates were stolen from a vehicle on Boundary Road. 
  • A vehicle on Oakbine Avenue was broken into and damaged/

Mischief Report: 

A vehicle on Cameron Avenue was vandalized.
