THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE AND COLLISION

21 year old Michael Hodgson of 27 Nebnaigoching Street has been charged with 1 count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, 1 count of possession of property obtained by crime-under $5000, 1 count of impaired driving, 1 count of consume over the legal limit, 1 count of under $5000 and 1 count of breach of probation order.
It is believed that on the 17th of November just before 4am Officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service observed a stolen 1997 black Pontiac Grand Prix traveling southbound on Black Road. The vehicle had just been reported stolen by the Ontario Provincial Police. City Police attempted to stop this vehicle by activating their lights and sirens. The vehicles driver did not stop for Officers but did start traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle did not stop for Police and while traveling east bound on Trunk Road the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a guard rail at the corner of Boundary Road and Trunk road. The driver 21 year old Michael Hodgson was arrested at this time and transported to the station. There were no other people in the car. He will be attending bail court this morning.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

23 year old Alan Steve Bertrand of 6 Linden Drive, Heyden Ontario, and 23 year old Jeff John Evans of 507 Second Line West have both been charged in relation to a home invasion. It is believed that on the 14th of November just after 4pm the two accused attended at a downtown residence. Once inside they assaulted a female my pushing her to the ground and assaulted the male by chocking him and striking him with a bat. The two males fled on foot and Police were called. Both males were located and arrested at the corner of Albert Street and Tancred Street. The male victim was treated at the hospital for his injuries. It is not known if the accused were known to the victims.
Jeff Evans has been charged with 1 count of assault, 1 count of assault with a weapon and 1 count of break and enter and commit.
Alan Bertrand has been charged with 1 count of break and enter and commit and 1 count of assault with a weapon. They are both attending bail court this morning.

THEFT

27 year old Loretta Suzanne Carrie of 1674 Wellington Street East Has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000, 1 count of breach of probation order and 2 counts of breach of undertaking. It is believed that on the 15th of November , the accused attended at the Wal-Mart Store and placed two sets of Queen size sheets valued at $91.85 into her pack sack . She then exited the store and made no attempt to pay for the items. She was apprehended by store staff and police were called. The accused was on an undertaking with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour as well as not use, posses, consume any non-medical prescribed drugs, both of which she breached. She is scheduled for bail court this morning.

TRESPASS AT NIGHT

A 15 year old male and a 17 year old male have both been charged with 1 count each of possession of house breaking tools and 1 count each of trespassing at night. They will be attending bail court this morning.
It’s believed that on the 16th of November just after 2am both accused were observed by residents in a driveway on Lake Street to be in a vehicle belonging to the home owners. Both accused started to run from the vehicle and were apprehended a short distance away by citizens from that residence. They were held for Police. Both had in there possession a black crow bar.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

A 38 year old male has been charged with 1 count of assault and will be appearing in bail court this morning. It is believed that on the 16th of November just after 5pm at their down town residence the accused and his wife became involved in a verbal argument that escalated to the point of the accused pulling and pushing his wife causing her to suffer a sore and bloody nose. The victim did not require medical attention and police attended and arrested the accused.

IMPAIRED DRIVERS

1) 39 year old Christopher John Nolan of 54 Gemah Street, Garden River, has been charged with 1 count of impaired driving and 1 count of fail to provide breath sample. On the 16th of November just before 6pm the accused was observed by Police traveling west bound on Queen Street near Lake Street at a high rate of speed. Officers followed the vehicle and stopped it Near Kohler Street. The driver appeared to be intoxicated and was arrested by Officers. He is scheduled to appear in bail court this morning.

2) 34 year old Sandra Rodriguez of 15 Golf Range Crescent has been charged with 1 count of impaired driving and 1 count of consume over the legal limit. It is believed that on November 15th at approximately 11:45pm the accused was observed driving a Santa Fe on Wellington Street by Bruce Street. Her vehicle was observed by a cab driver to mount the curb, weave all over the road and nearly cause a collision. She was stopped at Wardlaw Fuels and held by the cab driver until Police arrived. She will be attending court on the 16th of December.

POSSESSION OF DRUGS

36 year old James Alexander Burns of 704 North Street has been charged with 1 count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. On the 16th of November just after 10am the accused was arrested by officers for driving while under suspension. While officers searched him he was found to be in possession of 3 small baggies containing cocaine residue, and a search of his vehicle revealed two syringes, one half full of cocaine. He is scheduled for court on the 15th of December.

TWO DOMESTIC ASSAULT

1) A 46 year old male has been charged with 1 count of assault. It is believed that on the 16th of November shortly after 9pm the accused became involved in a verbal family argument. The accused is alleged to have grabbed his wife by the throat and pushing her. No injuries were reported and the accused is scheduled for court on the 7th of January.

2) A 23 year old male has been charged in an incident involving his step father. It is believed that on the 15th of November the accused assaulted his step father by hitting him with a hockey stick. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, and to not consume any alcohol. The accused has been charged with 1 count of assault with a weapon, and 1 count of breach of probation order. He is scheduled for court this morning.

MISCHIEF

- Garbage bins were damaged in the 900 block of Fourth Line East over the weekend.
- On the 15th someone smashed one of the cars parked on the lot at Boston’s on Pim Street with a golf club.
- A car had its lock damaged on the 16th while parked in the 300 block of McNabb Street.
- Anna McCrea School on Mark Street had garbage thrown all over the entrance and yard over the weekend.

BREAK AND ENTERS

- 4 homes on Lake Street had their shed broke into over the weekend.
- A house in the 200 block of McNabb Street was broken into on the 15th. Not known what was taken.
