City Police responded to 25 motor vehicle collisions over the weekend. Heavy snow has made for difficult driving conditions. Officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service are urging motorists to drive with care and reduce their speeds this morning as not all roads have been cleared.

Domestic Dispute

On the 7th of November just before 11am City Police responded to a domestic dispute in the down town area of the city and arrested a 49 year old male. It is believed that the accused assaulted his common law girlfriend by throwing a wooden chest at her causing injury to her back and knees. The accused also threatened to kill her. The victim did not require immediate medical attention.
The accused has been charged with 1 count of assault with a weapon and 1 count of threatening death. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.

Impaired Driver

27 year old Sharon Jane Pinto of 1252 Pineshores Road, Goulais River has been charged with 1 count of impaired driving and 1 count of consume over the legal limit. It is believed that on the 8th of November shortly before 1am the accused was driving east bound on Albert Street East when she was observed by officers traveling at a slow rate of speed, weaving substantially and almost struck a parked vehicle. Officers stopped the driver and observed obvious signs of impairment. She was arrested and transported to the station. She is scheduled to attend court on the 15th of December.

Assault

27 year old April Lynn Long of 230 St.Andrews Terrace has been charged with 1 count of assault. It is believed that on the 8th of November the accused while in an intoxicated state attended a west end residence and assaulted a female known to her who was babysitting at the time. The female did not require medical attention. The accused was arrested a short time later at her residence. She is scheduled to attend court on the 15th of December.

Outstanding warrants

50 year old Yvon Andre Chartrand of 748 Wellington Street East was arrested on the 7th of November while walking in the parking lot of 293 Bay Street. The accused had been wanted on several outstanding warrants dating back to 2005. He is scheduled to attend bail court today.

Theft of alcohol

26 year old Jennifer Lee Adams of 270 St. James Avenue has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000, 1 count of impersonation and 1 count of breach of release document.
It is believed that on the 7th of November just after 7pm the accused attended at the LCBO in the Station Mall and selected 5 bottles of various liquors totaling $167.40. The accused then exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. The accused was apprehended by store staff and police were called. The accused identified herself as someone else and refused to give officers her proper name. The accused was also on an undertaking to notify change of address which had yet to be done. She is scheduled for court on the 8th of December.

Theft of cologne

43 year old Andrew Sheridan Swan of 314 Albert Street East Unit #11 has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000. It is believed that on the 9th of November the accused attended at Sears Department Store at 293 Bay Street just after 12pm. The accused then selected two gift packs of men’s cologne valued at $193.00 and placed them into a shopping bag then left the store without making any attempt to pay. He was apprehended just outside the store by security and held for police. He is scheduled to attend court on the 8th of December.

Theft of Lighters

A 15 year old male has been charged with theft under $5000. It is believed that on the 9th of November just after 12pm the accused was at Rick’s Outlet Store with two other males. The accused was acting as a lookout for the other two males while they stole to lighters valued at $30.00. The clerk then approached all three who then fled the area. The accused attended at the station just after 3pm and turned himself in. He is to appear in court on the 8th of December.

ild Pornography

18 year old Kyle Matthew Mammarella of 308 Farwell Terrace has been charged with 1 count of possession of child pornography and 1 count of distribution of child pornography. On the 7th of November just after 1pm officers executed a search warrant on the residence of the accused, seizing all computers within the residence. The accused was arrested just after 4pm and is scheduled for bail court today.

Mischief

- River View Public school was vandalized with paint balls on the outside walls.
- In the 100 block of Kerr Drive vandals spray painted racial hatred and swears on garage and kids play equipment.
- A rock was thrown through the back window of a car in the 100 block of Wellington Street West.
- All four tires on a vehicle parked in the 500 block of Shannon Road were slashed.
- The front windshield of a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Albert Street East was cracked by a snow ball.

Break and Enters

A specialized Hard Rock Mountain Bike valued at $500 was stolen from a shed on Summit Avenue.
