Break and Enter On the 30th of October at 4:25 am, officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 19 year-old Jody Edwards of no fixed address on Tilley Road and charged him with one count of break, enter and commit and one count of breach

On the 30th of October at 4:25 am, officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 19 year-old Jody Edwards of no fixed address on Tilley Road and charged him with one count of break, enter and commit and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that officers received a call from a neighbour of the residence around 4:19 am advising of a break and enter in progress and when they arrived they located the accused inside in possession of food and liquor. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions that he keep the peace and be good.

Assault Causing Bodily Harm
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 24 year-old Matthew Hermes of #6-54 Ellis Road on the 31st of October at 6:30 am at a residence on Hudson Street and charged him with one count of assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that the accused assaulted a male during a Halloween party at a residence on Hudson Street. The victim received non-life threatening injuries that required medical attention at the hospital.

Mischief
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 25 year-old Kyle Parnell of #C2-171 Willow Avenue on the 31st of October at 1:10 am on Bay Street and charged him with one count of mischief under $5,000, one count of breach of a release document and one count of obstruct peace officer. It is alleged that on the 31st of October at approximately 1 am officers received a call from a witness that observed the accused kick and smash the window out of the front door of a Dennis Street Store. Officers located the accused on Bay Street and when arrested him he falsely identified himself to the officers. At the time of the incident the accused was under the influence of alcohol and was on a recognizance order with conditions that he not consume any alcohol.

Breaching Release Conditions
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 39 year-old Shaun Laird of #2-603 Second Line West on the 30th of October at 7:18 pm at his residence and charged him with two counts of breach of a release document and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 30th of October the accused breached orders by not being inside his residence, breaching his curfew order and also consuming alcohol.

Female Assaulted at Local Bar
On the 29th of October at 2:49 am officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a report from a female advising that she had been attacked by two persons while leaving a local bar. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result and also had her cell phone smashed during the incident. Officers investigated the incident and as a result, two persons allegedly responsible for the incident were arrested at the station on the 30th of October after turning themselves in. Teresa Wabegujig-Jackson, age 27, of 127 Wakegijig Avenue in Wikwemikong Ontario was charged with one count of assault. Shawn Potvin, age 25, of #1-128 Second Line West was charged with one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. They are both to appear in court on the 6th of December.

Two Males Arrested for Vandalism
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 19 year-old Clayton Czapla of #1-814 Wellington Street East on the 29th of October at 11:10 pm at his residence and charged him with one count of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 29th of October at approximately 10:42 pm the accused caused mischief to a neighbour’s door when he wrote on it with a black marker. He is to appear in court on the 29th of November.

Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 16 year-old youth on the 29th of October at 11:45 pm in the downtown area and charged him with one count of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 29th of October at 11:25 am the accused smashed a door window of a residence on Queen Street West. He is to appear in court on the 30th of November.

Female Shoplifter Arrested
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Sarah Thomas of #8-864 Queen Street East on the 29th of October at 6:38 pm at Rome’s Independent Grocers. It is alleged that on this date she attended at the store and stole some items. She has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and is to appear in court on the 29th of November.

Break and Enter Reports
• A residence in the 700 block of Third Line East was entered on the 30th of October between 10:30 am and 11:05 am. A metal detector, a flat screen television, an Xbox and several games were reported taken.
• A business compound in the 100 block of Industrial Court was broken into. Welding cable was reported stolen.
• An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence in the 200 block of Tilley Road.
• A vehicle parked at Queen Street at Spring Street had the driver’s side window smashed and a purse left inside was reported stolen

Mischief Reports
• Several vehicles were vandalized throughout the city on Saturday and Sunday evening. Six parked vehicles had rocks or pumpkins thrown through the windows and one transport that was travelling on Second Line West had rocks thrown at it smashing the windows out. Two vehicles had tires slashed, two vehicles were keyed and one was spray painted.
• A screen window was smashed out of a residence on Central Street.
• A Boston Avenues residence window was smashed out by a large rock late Friday night.
• Youths attempted to light a pumpkin and other decorations on fire on Friday and Saturday evening.
