Male Charged with Assault

A 56-year old male will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested on May 7th around 12 noon. The male was wanted by City Police in relation to a domestic dispute that took place on May 6th in the City’s central area. It is alleged that the male assaulted his girlfriend by grabbing her by the throat and throwing her against the wall. The male has been charged with one count of assault.

Breach of Probation

A 37-year old male will also be in bail court this morning on domestic related charges. On the 8th of May around 10:30 pm the accused attended at the downtown residence of his ex-girlfriend and got into an argument with her. The accused was on probation with terms not to molest, harass or annoy the victim as well as to keep the peace and be good. The male has been charged with 2 counts of breach of probation.

Impaired Driving Charges Laid

38-year old Christopher Connell of 397 Elizabeth Street was arrested on Friday evening after being involved in a short police pursuit just after 7 pm. It is alleged that the accused was operating a car in the Elizabeth Street area, which had no plates on it. When the officers activated the roof lights to have Mr. Connell pull over, he took off from police at a high rate of speed through the streets in the area, including Danby and Parker Street. During this time the accused when through a yield sign and a stop sign. Police discontinued the pursuit due to the amount of traffic and pedestrians in the area. A very short time later the police located and arrested Mr. Connell in his driveway of his residence. The accused resisted arrest and was also found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time. Mr. Connell has been charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over legal limit, one count of dangerous driving, one count of flight from police, one count of resist arrest and one count of breach of probation. He will appear in court on June 13th.

Mischief under $5,000

41-year old Stanley Woodcox of 124 Andrew Street was arrested Friday afternoon after he broke a window from slamming a door at the Ontario Works offices located at 540 Albert Street East. The damage to the window occurred on May 4th. On Friday an officer from the City Police was speaking with the accused on Andrew Street when he lunged at the officer. The officer arrested the accused, who struggled with the officer and fought being handcuffed. Once on his feet the accused kicked the officer in the groin area. The accused was arrested and charged with one count of mischief under $5,000, one count of resist arrest and one count of assaulting a police officer. He will appear in court on June 13th.


Sexual Assault Charges Laid

47-year old Bradford Mooney of 440 Chambers Avenue was arrested on May 6th around 5 pm. It is alleged that the male slapped a female in the buttocks area and made a comment to her. The incident occurred in the City’s east end. The male and female victim are unknown to each other. The accused has been charged with one count of sexual assault and will appear in court on June 13th.


Youth Charged with Mischief

A 16-year old youth will appear in court on June 14th after being arrested yesterday. It is alleged that on Friday morning the accused entered a vehicle parked on Cooper Street and took a cell phone and some change. The accused than threw the cell phone, break it. The accused has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation.

Ýouths to Appear in Court

Yesterday evening City Police arrested a 15-year old and a 17-year old youth and charged with each with 2 counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. It is alleged that the 2 accused had possession of 2 stolen bikes and a variety of bike parts. The youths will appear in court on June 14th. The owners of the bikes were identified during the course of the investigation.

Break and Enters


Over the weekend City Police took 4 reports of break and enters:

1) On May 6th around 5:30 pm 2 males attempted to break into a garage and a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Greenfield Drive. The homeowner chased off the suspects. Both were described as young males, one wearing a yellow jacket and one wearing a green coat.

2) On May 7th thieves broke into M&M Laundromat located at 134 Gore Street and took an undisclosed amount of quarters and loonies from a coin machine.

3) On the 8th of May a home owner in the 100 block of Pardee Avenue returned home around 11 pm and found that someone had broke into their residence in the evening hours. Nothing appears to have been taken in this break and enter.

4) On May 8th just before 2 am thieves attempted to gain entry into JD Enterprises located at 380 Dacey Road, but were scared off. A window was broken, entry was not gained and a male suspect was seen fleeing the scene. The only description of the suspect is that he was a shorter male, wearing a grey hoodie and jeans.
