Three People To Appear In Bail Court This Morning 1) On the 6th of May just before 11 am an officer from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended at Trunk Road near the city limits and observed a male hitchhiking.
Three People To Appear In Bail Court This Morning

1) On the 6th of May just before 11 am an officer from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended at Trunk Road near the city limits and observed a male hitchhiking. The male walked off the roadway into a bush area, which seemed suspicious to the officer. The officer located the male without incident and conducted a police query of the male. The male was wanted on a warrant for two counts of breach of probation. The accused was arrested without incident. 44-year old Richard Breton of no fixed address will appear in bail court this morning.

2) A 38-year old male was arrested just before 2 am on the 7th of May and charged with one count of breach of a release order. Officers attended at a west end address after family members could not reach a female. When officers attended at her address to check on her well being they located her boyfriend in the residence. The accused was on a release order not to be at the victims address.

3) A 38-year old male was arrested early this morning and charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the first of May the accused sexually assaulted his girlfriend and threatened to kill her.

Five People Charged After Running Red Light

On the 7thof May just before 5 am officers on routine patrol were stopped on Second Line West at John Street facing westbound behind a vehicle as they waited for a train to go through the intersection. When the train traffic control bar went up the streetlight was still red, however the vehicle in front of the police cruiser proceeded through the red light. Officers activated their emergency equipment, proceeded through the intersection and stopped the vehicle a short distance from the intersection. The subsequent search of the driver, passengers and vehicle produced a 5-gram vial of cannabis resin as well as a small baggie of cocaine. Officers located the cocaine on the driver of the vehicle as well as a quantity of cash.

Officers also located a key for a local hotel in the vehicle and the 3 males advised that they had been at the hotel and that the room was registered to the driver. The three males were taken into custody and officers attended at the hotel room where they found 2 females sleeping in the room. Officers located several empty baggies with traces of cocaine in them as well as other evidence of drug use in the room. The following persons were charged:

1) The driver of the vehicle, 21-year old Mark Evans of 4562 Second Line West has been charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance regarding the cocaine and two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance regarding the cocaine and the cannabis resin. He will appear in court on June 12th.

2) 22-year old Myles Ketola of 2-500 Wallace Terrace, who was a passenger in the vehicle, has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance in regards to the cocaine and will appear in court on June 12th.

3) The third male in the vehicle, 20-year old David Hache of 18 Avon Avenue has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance regarding the cocaine and cannabis resin as well as one count of breach of probation.
At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions not to have or consume illicit drugs. He will appear in court on June 12th.

4) 20-year old Kristana MacAdam of 18 Avon Avenue has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and will appear in court on June 12th.

5) 21-year old Andrea Dvorak of 2-500 Wallace Terrace has also been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and will appear in court on June 12th.

Assault

An 18-year old male was arrested on the 6th of May just after 7 pm and charged with one count of assault and one count of resist arrest. Officers attended at a centrally located residence for a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the male assaulted his girlfriend by pushing her. As officers arrived at the residence the accused fled on foot but was chased and captured by officers. It is alleged that the accused kicked and spit at the officers as they searched him at the station. The accused will appear in court on June 7th.

Break & Enters

City Police received 4 break and enter reports over the weekend.

1) Just before 10 pm on May 5th a home was broken into in the 100 block of Carufel Avenue and a small quantity of money was taken.

2) On the 6th of May in the evening hours a homeowner in the 100 block of Alexandra Street reported that their residence was entered and furniture was stolen and the residence was vandalized. No further details are available at this time.

3) On the 7th of May around 12 noon a homeowner in the 100 block of Madeleine Street reported that their shed had been entered and a rototiller was taken.

4) On the 8th of May in the early morning hours a home in the 100 block of Borron Avenue was entered and a bike, alcohol, and a metal detector were taken, as well as a wallet.
