Assault Charges Yesterday afternoon City Police arrested a 28-year-old male and charged him with assault. It is alleged that the accused grabbed the arm of his common-law girlfriend and then pushed and choked her during an argument.
Assault Charges

Yesterday afternoon City Police arrested a 28-year-old male and charged him with assault. It is alleged that the accused grabbed the arm of his common-law girlfriend and then pushed and choked her during an argument. The victim suffered minor injuries as a result of this assault. The accused will be appearing in bail court today. He is charged with one count of assault.

West End Disturbance

On Sunday May 6th at approx 6:00 am city police were called to a west end address in regards to a disturbance. Upon arrival officers observed a male person running from the address. Officers chased the male and arrested him for mischief and assault. It is alleged that the accused damaged the door to his girlfriend’s home and then assaulted her by grabbing her arm and throat. The accused, a 29-year-old male will be appearing in bail court today on one count of assault and one count of mischief. The victim did not require medical attention.

Downtown Stabbing

At about 2:15 am Saturday morning the Sault Ste Marie Police Service was dispatched to Gore St. in the area of the Glow Bar regarding a fight. Upon arrival officers were informed by several witnesses that a male person was had been stabbed with a knife. A short time later officers arrested one male person and charged him with one count of weapon dangerous to the public and being intoxicated in a public place. The accused John Bussineau, age 25, of 440 Bush St. was found in possession of a knife and was seen waving it in public. He will be appearing in bail court today. Officers from the Criminal Investigative Services unit are still investigating this incident and would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident. The victim, a 25-year-old male suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital where he was treated.

Downtown Disturbance

At approx. 2:15 am Sunday May 6th City police were called to attend at a downtown area residence in regards to a disturbance. Upon arrival officers were informed that two males had attended at the residence and had damaged the premises with an axe. The suspects fled the area in a pick-up truck. Officers stopped the vehicle a short time and two male occupants were arrested. It is alleged that Donald McKay, age 34, of 22 Talon Dr. and 32 -year-old Daniel McKay, of 22 Talon Dr, had attended at a residence on Albert St. W. and damaged the doors and windows with an axe. It is further alleged that Donald McKay threatened to kill a male person at the Albert St.W. address. Both males will be appearing in bail court today. Donald McKay is charged with one count of threatening death, and one count of mischief. Daniel McKay is charged with one count of mischief and one count of breach of probation.

Break & Enters Over the Weekend

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated three break and enters this weekend. Police were called to a residence in the 100 block of Turner Ave where a shed was entered and power tools were stolen. A residence in the 100 block of McFadden Ave also had a shed entered. It is not known at this time what was taken. The third entry was to an apartment in the 100 block of Carufel Ave. It is not known what was taken.
