3 Men and a Female Appear in Bail Court Regarding Domestic Violence Calls: 1) A 38-year old male was arrested just before midnight last night and charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief under $5,000.
3 Men and a Female Appear in Bail Court Regarding Domestic Violence Calls:

1) A 38-year old male was arrested just before midnight last night and charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that on May 29th the accused assaulted his wife by punching her in the head and kicking her in the back. The accused also smashed the windshield out of the victim’s vehicle. The incident occurred in the City’s west end.

2) A 46-year old male was arrested on Saturday afternoon and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his wife by grabbing her by the throat. The incident also occurred in a west end residence.

3) A 32-year old male was arrested and charged with one count of assault after it is alleged he assaulted his common-law wife. It is alleged that the 2 persons were arguing late Friday night when the argument escalated from verbal to physical. It is alleged that the assaulted grabbed the victim by the throat, dragged her to the bedroom and threw her on the floor. The incident occurred in the central area of town.

4) A 38-year old female was arrested on early yesterday morning after City Police were called to a downtown residence in regards to a domestic dispute between the accused and her girlfriend. The two were having a verbal argument, but when officers queried the accused they found out she was on conditions not to consume alcohol. The accused had been drinking and was subsequently arrested for breach of a release document.

Impaired Driving Charges

65-year old Laurier Pelletier (male) of 4161 Second Line West was arrested on May 29th and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide a breath sample in relation to a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Wellington St. West at Patrick Street. It is alleged that on May 29th around 8 pm the accused was behind the wheel of a car parked on Wellington Street West at Patrick Street. A car operated by Colleen Poll of 105 Hood Street pulled up behind the Pelletier vehicle. It is alleged that Mr. Pelletier than began to reverse, striking the Poll vehicle and left the area. Witnesses followed the accused and provided information to police who were on route. Information received from the witnesses had the accused crossing the road line several times as well as going through a red light at one point. The accused pulled his vehicle into a parking lot in the 300 block of Korah Road where City Police arrested him. Fortunately no one was injured and there was no vehicle damage. Mr. Pelletier will appear in court on July 4th.

Motorcycle Tries to Miss Car

A motor vehicle collision on Saturday just before 3 pm sent one person to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A car operated by a 16-year old youth was pulling out of an address in the 100 block of Great Northern Road and failed to see a northbound motorcycle operated by 47-year old Frederick Beutow of 300 Huron Street. Mr. Beutow avoided colliding with the car by laying down his motorcycle. He was taken by ambulance to the hospital. The motorcycle received moderate damage. The 16-year old driver has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of fail to yield from driveway.

House Fire

On May 28th around 11 am City Police attended in the 300 block of Morin Street to assist the Fire Department who had responded to a house fire. Officers stood by and controlled the scene by diverting traffic and pedestrians from the immediate area.


6 Reports of Break and Enters:

1) A home in the 100 block of Palomino was entered during the daytime hours and thieves made off with electronics, jewellery and liquor.

2) A garage in the 300 block of Moody Street was entered sometime overnight between the 26th and 27th of May. The homeowner advises it appears items may have been taken but it is unknown at this time what was taken.

3) A home in the 100 block of Albion Street was entered during the daytime hours on Friday but it is unknown at this time what was taken.

4) A garage was entered in the 100 block of Bitonti Crescent and a 1975 9.5 Johnson outboard motor was taken.

5) A garage in the 500 block of Morrison Avenue was broken into and reported on Friday. The incident appears to have occurred overnight and it is unknown if anything was taken at this time.

6) On Friday morning a vehicle in the 100 block of Knox Avenue was entered overnight and thieves made off with a set of golf clubs complete with the bag and cart as well as 4 tiffany lamps.
