Following persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1.) A 22 year-old male was arrested at the city police station on the 25th May just after 9 pm and charged with two counts of assault, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of threaten death or bodily harm, one count of breach of a release document and four counts of breach of probation.

It is alleged that between the 10th of May and the 22nd of May the accused assaulted his common-law wife at her residence a number of times by pushing, grabbing, choking and shoving her.

During one of the incidents it is alleged that the accused also grabbed a butcher knife, pointed it at the victim and threatened to kill her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

At the time of the incidents the accused was on a release document and probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

2.) A 29 year-old male was arrested on the 26th of May around 3:25 am in the area of Tancred Street and Albert Street East and charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation.

It is alleged that on this date around 3 am in the downtown area, the accused assaulted his girlfriend by punching her in the face and kicking her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

3.) A 25 year-old male was arrested on the 26th of May around 2 am and charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of mischief under $5,000 and two counts of breach of probation.

It is alleged that the accused threw a beer bottle at his girlfriend’s face. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. It is further alleged that the accused damaged two phones in the residence by tearing the wires out of them.

At the time of the incidents the accused was on a probation order with conditions not to molest, harass or physically interfere with the victim as well as to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

4.) 18 year-old Troy Bozowskyi of 54 Princeton Drive and a 17 year-old male were arrested just after 7:30 pm on the 26th of May on Foster Drive near the Roberta Bondar Pavilion regarding a break and enter to the Northern Breweries Warehouse on Bay Street.

It is alleged that on the 26th of May just after 7 pm the two broke into the warehouse and stole four cases of beer valued at $96.00. When the males were located a short time later on Foster Drive the 17 year-old youth had a can of pepper spray on him and a mini mag light.

Troy Bozowskyi is charged with one count of break, enter and commit and is to appear in bail court this morning. The 17 year-old youth is charged with one count of break, enter and commit, one count of possession of housebreaking tools and one count of possession of a weapon for purpose dangerous to public. The youth is to appear in court on the 26th of June.

5.) 35 year-old Clifford Neveau of Portage Lane was arrested on the 26th of May just after 5 pm and charged with four counts of assault with a weapon and four counts of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that the accused became upset with some neighbours that were having an outside party. The accused attended at the neighbours and while carrying a piece of wood made threatening gestures towards them and their guests and threatened to kill them. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Impaired Driving

20 year-old Robert McGregor of 596 Cooper Street was arrested on the 27th of May around 7 am and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that just before 7 am the accused was driving his vehicle southbound on Gloucester Street when he struck a ‘no parking’ sign. Witnesses contacted police and the driver was arrested when he was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He is to appear in court on the 9th of July.

The following break and enters were reported over the weekend:

1) A residence on Boston Avenue was entered on the 25th of May between 4 pm and 7 pm. Nothing appeared to be taken.

2) A residence on Letcher Street was entered between the 23rd of May after 5 pm and the 27th of May. A play station and some games were stolen.

3) H & R Lash on John Street reported a break and enter just after 2:30 am on the 27th of May. A suit was reported stolen from the front display window area. It does not appear that entry was gained into the store.

4) Sandro’s Restaurant was broken into on the 27th of May just after 3:25 am. Two male youths were arrested regarding this break and enter. It is alleged that the two youths broke in and fled when they set the alarm off. One youth was arrested at the scene and one was arrested after a short foot pursuit by city police. The youths are to appear in court on the 9th of July.

Vehicle Fire

The Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services and the Sault Ste Marie Police Service attended to a vehicle fire in the area of 238 Albert Street East at approximately 2:38am this morning. It appears that a fire that involved a truck spread to both buildings at 240 and 238 Albert Street East. The buildings are actually homes. # 240 Albert Street East has four apartment units in it and # 238 has 2 units. Both buildings were evacuated and no injuries were reported. This fire is currently being investigated by Fire and Police Services and there are no further details at this time.
