FEMALE TURNS HERSELF IN TO POLICE
Yesterday at 9:35 pm, the accused, a 16-year-old female was at the front desk of the Police Services Building on Second Line and advised the police officer there that she was breaching a curfew condition of her recognizance by not being in her residence between 6:00 pm and 7:00 am.

A police records check confirmed the youth was breaching her recognizance and she was arrested and charged with Breach of Recognizance. She will appear in bail court today.


FEMALE CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
Yesterday at 8:00 pm, a 15-year-old female was involved in a fight outside Bogartz at 173 Gore Street with 14-year-old female that she knew. The victim ran inside Bogartz to get away from the accused.

The accused followed her into the business and struck a staff member that was attempting to separate them. Neither victim was seriously injured and no charges were pursued. However, the accused was on a recognizance with a condition to stay away from Bogartz at 173 Gore Street. Patrol Officers arrested and charged the youth with Breach of Recognizance. She will appear in bail court today.


GIRL AWAKES TO FIND MAN SEXUALLY ASSAULTING HER
Yesterday, shortly after 8:00 am, police officers were called to investigate a complaint of sexual assault.

Officers learned that a 17-year-old female had been at a downtown apartment of an acquaintance of hers when she fell asleep. She awoke to the find the acquaintance, a 43-year-old male, sexually assaulting her. The victim left the apartment and sought assistance.

At 8:47 am, patrol officers arrested and charged the accused with Sexual Assault. He will appear in court on June 30th. (Note: The name of the accused cannot be released to protect the identity of the victim.)


TWO 16-YEAR-OLDS GET A BREAK
Yesterday at approximately 2:30 am, two 16-year-old males were involved in a theft from a motor vehicle on Elizabeth Street.

The victim heard the thieves entering the vehicle and after a short foot chase and search, the vehicle owner and some friends apprehended the two accused in the 1500 block of Wellington Street East. The accused were held for police.

At 4:00 am, officers arrested both accused, which were bound by Probation Orders at the time of the incident. The accused returned the property they removed from the vehicle to the victim and showed remorse for their actions and were subsequently only charged with Breach of Probation. They will appear in court in early July.


WOMAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
Yesterday at approximately 1:00 am, in a downtown apartment, Nancy Dumanski, age 45 of #4, 196 James Street allegedly assaulted an adult female who was known to her, by punching her in the face, kicking her in the stomach and by pulling her hair. The assault escalated when Dumanski assaulted the victim by swinging a knife at her and yelling, "I'm going to kill you." The accused cut victim's right palm as she tried to defend herself.

Patrol officers were called to the victim's residence and commenced an investigation. Officers then attended at Dumanski's residence and at 3:55 am, they arrested and charged Dumanski with Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Threatening and Breach of Probation. She will appear in bail court today. The victim received minor injuries in the assault and refused medical treatment.


BREAK & ENTERS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated two break-in calls yesterday. At 11:30 am, patrol officers investigated an attempt break in to a shed on Albert Street East.

At approximately 11:24 pm, an adult female living on Second Line West awoke to find that a male wearing a red jacket, 5' 8" to 6' tall and with long hair had entered her residence.

When confronted, the male fled without incident. A search of the area could not locate the suspect. Investigation into these occurrences is continuing and anyone with information on them is asked to call the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers.
