Male Arrested for Assault, Threatening and Mischief
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 28 year-old Ronald Owl of no fixed address on the 1st of May and charged him with two counts of assault, two counts of threaten death or bodily harm, two counts of mischief and five counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 1st of May at approximately 3 am the accused was at a residence of a male person known to him and during the course of the evening the accused attacked the male, assaulting him and threatening to kill him.

The victim received non-life threatening injures as a result. The accused also punched a hole in a wall inside the residence.

At the time of the incident the accused was under the influence of alcohol and was on a probation order with conditions that he not consume any alcohol, and further, he was to keep the peace and be good.

Domestic Related Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 19year-old male on the 2nd of May at 2:33 am at the police station and charged him with one count of criminal harassment, one count of assault, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of forcible confinement. It is alleged that on the 2nd of May the accused assaulted his ex-girlfriend in a parking lot. When the victim attempted to flee, the accused would not let her and forced her to the ground, continuing to assault her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. Officers investigating the incident also learned that the accused has criminally harassed the victim since their break up in February by continuously calling her, sending her numerous text messages and threatening to kill her.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 30 year-old male on the 30th of April at 1:48 am and charged him with one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 29th of April the accused communicated with his ex-girlfriend by way of msn messages while on a release order with conditions that he not communicate with her due to past domestic related charges.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 57 year-old male on the 29th of April and charged him with one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon and one count of careless storage of a firearm. It is alleged that officers investigating a domestic dispute found that the accused was in possession of a restricted hand gun that was also not stored properly inside his residence.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17 year-old female on the 29th of April at 10:41 am and charged her with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 29th of April officers responding to a domestic related dispute at a downtown residence and on arrival discovered that the accused had assaulted her ex-boyfriend and also struck him with a piece of wood several times during the dispute. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions that she keep the peace and be good.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 22 year-old male on the 30th of April at 4:35 pm at the police station on an outstanding domestic related warrant. He has been charged with one count of assault and one count of overcome resistance – choking. It is alleged the accused was wanted for a domestic related incident from the 16th of April when he assaulted his girlfriend while in the downtown area during a verbal argument. The victim received non-life threatening injuries a result.

Female Arrested for Theft of Purse
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 41 year-old Deborah Marino of 682 Albert Street West (rear) on the 1st of May at 11:38 pm on Albert Street East and charged her with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the evening of the 29th of April officers attended at a residence on Albert Street East in regards to a female stealing a purse from the residence. The female had been let inside the home to use the bathroom and after she left the complainant noticed her purse missing.

Two Persons Arrested during Execution of Drug Warrant
On the 29th of April the Sault Ste Marie Police Street Team with the assistance from the Emergency Services unit and the OPP Canine unit, executed a search warrant at #1-167 Prentice Avenue.

During the course of their search, officers located 221 grams of marijuana valued at $4420 and 37 grams of cocaine valued at $3700. The total value of drugs seized was $8120.00. Police also located a small amount of cash, packaging materials and a scale. A marijuana joint was also located in one of the accused female’s purse.

As a result the two residents were charged with drug related offences. Denise Pelletier, age 39, was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. Jake Pelletier, age 18, was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.

Office Fire Investigation on Wellington Street East
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is assisting Fire Services at an office fire in the 500 block of Wellington Street East. The office was unattended at the time. There are no reports of any injuries. We ask that the public avoid this area.

Break and Enter
City police were called to a break-in to a garage in the 100 block of Prince Lake Rd. Power tools were stolen.

Mischief Reports
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were called to assist Fire Services at a number of suspicious fire calls over the past weekend.

On Saturday morning at approximately 6 am officers attended in the 400 block of McNabb Street for a shed fire and then two vehicle fires in a parking lot in that area. A third vehicle fire was reported to a vehicle in a parking lot on Princess Crescent.

Two dumpster fires were reported on the 1st of May just after 1 am. One was on Elgin Street, the other on Grace Street. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is currently investigating these fires.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received eight reports of vehicles being damaged over the weekend. The vehicles were parked in the following locations: The 200 block of Birchwood St, the 800 block of Pine St, the 200 block of Queen St. E, the 100 block of St. Mary’s River Dr, the 300 block of Northern Ave. E, the 200 block of Wilson St, the 700 block of Bay St, the 800 block of Trunk Rd. and the 600 block of Queen St. E. Most of the damage reports involved windows being damaged.
