Youth Arrested for Going Through Vehicles A 16 year-old male youth was arrested on the 16th of May at 2:55 am on Goulais Avenue and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of breach of probation and one count of assault.
Youth Arrested for Going Through Vehicles

A 16 year-old male youth was arrested on the 16th of May at 2:55 am on Goulais Avenue and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of breach of probation and one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 16th of May around 2:30 am, city police received a call regarding a male going through vehicles in the St. Basil’s Drive area and in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Goulais Avenue. Witnesses followed the suspect and attempted to apprehend him, but the suspect fled just prior to police arrival. Police searched the area and were able to locate the accused hiding in the bush area behind the complex. Officers ran a check on him and discovered he was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for assault. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Impaired Driving Arrest

44 year-old Barbara Schmidt of 479 Bush Street was arrested on the 14th of May at 10:06 pm on Young Street at Goulais Avenue and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide a breath sample. It is alleged that the accused was operating a Chev Cavalier eastbound on Young Street when she failed to stop at the stop sign at Goulais Avenue, crossed the roadway and her vehicle struck a parked Dodge Pickup. Officers attended and discovered that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. Both vehciles were moderately damaged. The accused refused to provide a breath sample at the police station. She is to attend in bail court this morning.

Domestic Related Arrests for Bail Court Appearance This Morning

• A 25 year-old male was arrested on the 16th of May at 6:56 pm at his residence and charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 16th of May around 6 pm the accused assaulted his common law spouse at their residence and also kicked a hole in a wall.
• A 34 year-old male was arrested on the 16th of May at 2:35 am at his residence and charged with one count of assault and one count of threatened death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 15th of May the accused assaulted his common law spouse at their residence and threatened to kill her.
• A 37 year-old male was arrested on the 16th of May at 12:57 pm on an outstanding domestic related warrant and charged with two counts of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 12th of May the accused threatened to kill his common law spouse and one of her family members. At the time of the incident, he was on probation to keep the peace and be good.
• A 27 year-old male was arrested on the 17th of May at 1:35 am at the city police station and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 16th of May at 11:30 pm the accused assaulted his girlfriend in the parking lot of a local restaurant. He is to appear in court on the 23rd of June.

Male Arrested for Assaulting Female

33 year-old Mark Lepore of 128 Prentice Avenue was arrested on the 16th of May at 4:43 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 24th of April at approximately 2:15 am the accused assaulted a female while in the parking lot of a local bar. The victim received minor injuries as result. The accused is to appear in court on the 21st of June.

Male Arrested for Assault Police

20 year-old John-Wayne McGaughey of 75 Arden Street was arrested on the 16th of May at 3:30 am on Arden Street and charged with on count of assault police and one count of intoxicated in a public place. It is alleged that on the 16th of May police received a call regarding an intoxicated male in the area of Arden Street. Officers located him on arrival in an intoxicated state and when they were arresting him he spit on the officers. He is to attend in court on the 21st of June.

Break and Enters

• A shed on Gloucester Street was broken into. Nothing was reported taken.
• Storage Units in the 800 block of Second Line East were broken into. It is not known at this time what was taken.
• An apartment on Chapple Sttreet was entered. Nothing was reported stolen.

Mischief/Thefts

• Vehicles were vandalized and some entered in the east, west and the central area of the city. A purse, a Laptop, an iPod, a French text book and GPS systems were reported stolen.
• 2 Backhoes in the 1000 block of Great Northern Road were reported vandalized.
• A bus shelter on Northern Avenue at Willow Ave was damaged.
• Several mailboxes were damaged in the Third Line West, Carpin Beach Road, Maki Road and Moss Road areas.
• A red Kona bike was reported stolen from Pine Street.
