Male Arrested for Robbery Incident

23 year-old Matthew Hermes of 146 McQueen Road was arrested on the 8th of May at 7:37 am at his residence and charged with one count of robbery, one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, one count of breach or probation and one count of breach of a recognizance order. It is alleged that the accused was wanted for a robbery incident that took place on the 21st of April when he attended with another male, to a downtown apartment complex and stole a ring from a male in the parking lot area. The victim was showing a ring he had for sale to the accused and the second male while they were inside a vehicle in the parking lot. When the accused reached inside to get the ring back, the males rolled the window up with the victim’s arm still inside and the vehicle started to accelerate away which resulted with the victim being dragged by the car for approximately 100 yards. The males fled from the area in the vehicle. The victim suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries as a result of being dragged by the vehicle. At the time of the incident, the accused was on a probation and recognizance order with conditions to keep the peace and be good. Police are attempted to locate the second male involved in this incident.

Domestic Related Arrests

• A 49 year-old male was arrested on the 9th of May at 8:10 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 2nd of May the accused assaulted his common law partner at their residence.
• A 26 year-old male was arrested on the 9th of May at 8:59 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of mischief and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 9th of May the accused attended at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and damaged a number of her belongings inside. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good.
• A 22 year-old male was arrested on the 9th of May at 5:25 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that the accused contacted his ex-girlfriend on the phone and threatened to kill her.
• A 42 year-old male was arrested on the 9th of May at 10:40 am at his residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common law spouse at their residence on the 9th of May.

Impaired Driving Arrest

51 year-old Suzanne Desjardins of 134-Hwy 532 Searchmount Ontario was arrested on the 8th of May at 10:15 pm at Canada Customs on Huron Street and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 8th of May the accused was stopped and checked at Customs and was found to be under the influence of alcohol. She was given a roadside screening device test and registered a fail. She is to appear in court on the 7th of June.

Inmate Charged with Assaulting and Threatening Correctional Officer

33 year-old Leslie Mackereth of #15-201 Ontario Street in Alliston Ontario was arrested on the 8th of May at 3:36 pm at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre and charged with one count of assault peace officer and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 8th of May at approximately 1:55 pm that the accused, while in custody at the Centre, assaulted a Corrections Officer. The officer received minor injuries as a result. The accused is to appear in court on the 28th of June.

Male Arrested for Threatening

32 year-old Joseph Bryze of 640 Shafer Avenue was arrested on the 9th of May at 10:15 pm at his residence and charged with two counts of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 8th of May the accused threatened two persons known to him. He is to appear in court on the 14th of June.

Male Arrested For Dangerous Operation Of Motor Vehicle and Failing to Report Accident

20 year-old Kyle Jarrett of 162 Bristol Place was arrested on the 9th of May and charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and one count of fail to remain at the scene of an accident. It is alleged that on the 8th of May at approximately 3 am the accused was the driver of a Jeep that was involved in a single motor vehicle collision on Marshall Drive in the area of the windmill farms. The vehicle left the roadway in that area and struck a tree. As a result, the driver and three passengers had to receive medical treatment later at hospital for non-life threatening injuries. At the time, the driver, the accused, failed to report the accident to police. He is to appear in court on the 14th of June.

Shoplifting Arrest

26 year-old William McDonald of 101 Churchill Ave (upstairs) was arrested on the 9th of March at 2:50 pm and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 9th of May at 2:40 pm the accused attended at Metro on Northern Avenue and stole some groceries. He was also on probation at the time with conditions to keep the peace and be good. He is to appear in court on the 14th of June.
