Male Youth Arrested as a Result of Impaired Driving Motor Vehicle Collision on Black Road

A 17 year-old male was arrested on the 6th of March at 8:05 am and charged with one count of Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm, one count of Consume Over the Legal Limit, one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance and one count of Class G2 Licence Holder B.A.C. above Zero. It is alleged that on the 6th of March just before 8 am the accused was operating a 1998 Plymouth Neon eastbound on McNabb Street when he failed to stop for the red light at Black Road and his vehicle struck a Kia Rio that had been travelling northbound on Black Road. After striking the Rio, the Neon hit a hydro pole. At the time of the accident the accused was impaired and exceeded the blood/alcohol level of more than 80 milligrams. He was also found to be in possession of approximately 54 grams of marijuana. The driver of the Kia was transported to hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-lifer threatening injuries. Both vehicles were heavily damaged. The accused is to appear in court on the 13th of April.

Domestic Related Arrest

A 35 year-old female was arrested on the 5th of March at 2:45 pm at a west end residence on an outstanding domestic related warrant. She was charged with one count of assault from an incident involving her boyfriend from the 4th of Mach. She is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested at Downtown Bar

Jason Pinsent, 32, of 2 Range Road was arrested on the 5th of March at 10:10 pm on Foster Drive and charged with one count of resisting arrest and one count of fail to leave when directed under the Trespass to Property Act. It is alleged that he was in an intoxicated condition at a local downtown bar and refused to leave when directed by staff. He left when police were called but returned a short time later and became aggressive with staff. He left when police arrived, but returned a short time later and was causing further problems. When police were arresting him he struggled and kicked at them. His court date is April 12.

Male Arrested for Disqualified Driving

55 year-old Roger Taylor of 56 Ferguson Avenue was arrested on the 5th of March at 7:55 pm on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of operate motor vehicle when disqualified. It is alleged that city police conducted a vehicle stop on the 5th of March around 7:55 pm on Great Northern and when they ran a check on the driver, the accused, they discovered he was a disqualified driver. He is to appear in court on the 12th of April.
26 year-old Amber Stringer of 583 Sherbourne Street was arrested on the 5th of March at 6:57 pm at her residence on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court from a theft related incident. She is to appear in court on the 12th of April.

Shoplifting Related Arrests

66 year-old Donna Johnston of #405-623 Bay Street was charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 on the 6th of March at 2:43 pm at Rome’s Independent Grocers after she allegedly attended the store on this date and stole a revolving spice rack. She was apprehended by store security and held for police. She is to appear in court on the 12th of April.
38 year-old Rolly Chaban of #307-844 Queen Street East was charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 on the 6th of March at 2:37 pm at Food Basics on Pine Street after he allegedly attended at the store on this date and stole some items. He was apprehended by store security and held for police. He is to appear in court on the 12th of April.

Theft and Mischief Reports

• A tailgate was stolen of a Chevy Pickup on Brookfield Avenue.
• A jacket containing a wallet was reported stolen from a downtown bar.
• An Iron Man bike and a fishing rod were reported stolen from the Rod and Gun Club on Connor Road.
• Several vehicles were vandalized and some were entered in the areas of Princess Crescent, Beatrice Street, London Street, The Drive, Campbell Avenue, Wemyss Street Wellington Street East, Great Northern Road, Macdonald Avenue, Shannon Road and Korah Road. Some of the items reported stolen were a wallet, CD’S a backpack containing school books and an iPod.
