Last night at approx. 9:00 pm city police executed a drug search warrant at 519 Cathcart St. and subsequently arrested the resident, Gerald Taylor, age 48, of 519 Cathcart St. It is alleged that when police entered the residence they located approx. 56 grams of marihuana and drug paraphernalia. Gerald Taylor is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

At approx. 1:00 am yesterday morning city police were called to a downtown residence regarding a break and enter. Upon arrival officers arrested an 49-year-old male. It is alleged that the accused male broke into the apartment of his ex-girlfriend and one inside assaulted her and caused damage to her property. The accused is charged with one count of break and enter with intent, one count of mischief and two counts of breach of probation. The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

Female arrested for impaired driving

On Sunday March 21, at approx. 12:45 am city police were called to attend at the Canada Customs and Border Service Building, located at 125 Huron St. regarding an impaired driver. It is alleged that Gayle Fillion, age 57, of 21 White Birch Dr, in Garden River, was operating her vehicle, on the International Bridge, while under the influence of alcohol. Ms Fillion is charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of drive over 80mgs.She will be appearing in court on April 26th.

Four males charged with possession of property obtained by crime, over $ 5,000

Stolen vehicle: - News Release March 17th 2010
A 2007 silver and grey Kia Spectra was stolen from the YMCA at about 9:00 pm last evening. Anyone having seen any suspicious persons in or about the YMCA is asked to call the city police at 949-6300.

On March 16th city police received a report of a stolen 2007 Kia Spectra. As a result of police investigation four males were arrested yesterday and charged with possession of the stolen vehicle. It is alleged that the four accused males were in possession of the vehicle on the 16th of March 2010.

1. Joshua Vanatta, age 21 of 343 Korah Rd. is charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $ 5,000. He will be appearing in court on April 26th.
2. A 17-year-old male is charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $ 5,000. He will be appearing in court on April 21st.
3. Jordan Morrar, age 21, of 1162 Queen St. E. Apt # 5, is charged with count of possession of property obtained by crime over $ 5,000 and one count of breach of probation. He will be appearing in court on April 26th.
4. Justin Daoust, age 18, of 333 Beverly St. one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. He will be appearing in court on April 26th.

Break and enter

An apartment in the 400 block of Queen St. W. was entered-electronics were stolen. An attempted break and enter occurred at approx. 1:00 am on Sat. March 20th at a residence in the 100 block of Churchill Ave. – Residence frightened the suspects off.

Mischief

A bus shelter was damaged on Friday March 19th at the intersection of McNabb St. and Brien Ave.
Vehicles were damaged at the following locations:
The 300 block of Lake St.
The 300 block of Langdon Rd.
The 100 block of Moluch St.
The 500 block of John St.
The 100 block of Old Highway 17 N.

Theft

A bicycle was stolen from the 100 block of Linstedt St.

Vehicles were entered and items stolen from the following locations:
The 400 block of Queen St. E. – purse and identification stolen.
The 300 block of Dacey Rd – u/k taken.
The 400 block of Pim St. – u/k taken.
The 500 block of MacDonald Ave – u/k taken
