Robbery with Knife Last evening just after 10:00pm 3 unknown males entered the JBC variety store at 143 Gore Street. All three males were brandishing knives.

Last evening just after 10:00pm 3 unknown males entered the JBC variety store at 143 Gore Street. All three males were brandishing knives. The three males fled the store and headed west with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. The store clerk in this incident was not physically harmed. All three males in this incident are described as wearing dark clothing and each wearing a balaclava. Domestic

A 25-year-old male was arrested just after 11PM on the 18th of March in relation to a domestic situation. City Police responded to this incident at approximately 10:50 on the 18 of March. It is alleged that the accused in this incident did assault his common law wife by slamming her arm between a door after a verbal argument. The accused was arrested at the Sault Area Hospital and charged with 1 count of Assault Causing Bodily Harm.

The female victim in this incident was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries to her arm.

Impaired Driving Charges

Over the weekend City Police arrested and charged 4 individuals each with 1 count of Impaired Driving and 1 count of Consume over the Legal Limit.

In the first incident 21-year-old Frank Goodall of 250 Eastern Avenue was stopped on Queen Street East after being observed in a 1995 Ford van traveling at a high rate of speed. At the time the accused was stopped he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and slurred speech. He is to appear in court on April 24th.

In the second incident 34 year old Mark O’Connell of 201 Old Goulais Bay Road was stopped just after 10Pm on the 18th of March on Second Line West where he was found to be impaired by alcohol. He was operating a 1990 Acura. He is also to appear in court on April 24th.

The third incident took place the 19th of March just before 3AM. 31-yar-old Brenda Antoine was operating a 2001 Chrysler when she pulled out of a parking lot across from 116 March Street and hit a 1993 Dodge Caravan being operated by 31-year-old Peggy-Sue Lariviere. Police came upon the accident while on patrol and found both drivers to be impaired by alcohol. They are also to appear in court April 24th.

Domestic

City Police responded to a Domestic Dispute in the West End of the city just after midnight on the 18th of March. In this incident a 48-year-old male assaulted his common-law wife by kicking her several times and then urinating on her. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and did not require medical attention. The accused has been charged with 2 counts of assault.

Maple View Confectionary Mischief

On the 19th of March just after 6AM City Police observed 2 young persons at the Maple view Inn Confectionary at 215 Forth Line East. The 2 youth were observed throwing a large rock through an 8X5 window causing it to smash and then approaching the window. Both suspects ran from the building upon observing Police responding to the incident. Police apprehended both persons and each were charged with 1 count of Mischief under $5000 and 1 count of Break and Enter with Intent to Commit an Indictable Offence. Both are to appear in court on the 24th of April. Charged was a 17-year-old youth and 18-year-old Andrew Cormier of 775 HWY 17 North.

Theft Charges

In two separate incidents over the weekend City Police charged two individuals each for 1 count of Theft Under $5000.

In the first incident 51-year-old George Michano of 101 Gore Street Unit #3 was observed on the 17th of March just before 4PM taking a chicken pate and Kalbassa from R.J’s Market and placing them into his pockets. He then left the store without attempting to pay. He was apprehended by a store staff member and police were called. He is to appear in court on the 10th of April.

In the second incident 33 year old James Syrette of 44 Nedenaigoching Road did attend at Rome’s Independent Groceries on the 17th of March just after 8PM and place packages of meat inside his clothing. Store employees apprehended the accused and City Police were called. The accused is to attend court on the10th of April.
