The following four persons will be appearing in bail court this morning

1. David Godin, age 29, of no fixed abode. It is alleged that on Saturday June 28 at approx. 10:10 am the accused attended at the Sears Store and stole some items from the hardware department. The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over to city police. Upon checking police records it was learned that the accused was wanted on three warrants for failing to comply with conditions of his recognizance release. The accused is charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000.00 and three counts of breach of recognizance.

2. A 16-year-old male was arrested early Saturday morning for allegedly breaching conditions of his probation order as well as his recognizance by being out past his curfew. It is alleged that the accused, who was on release conditions with a 9:00 pm curfew, did not return home until after 12:00 am. He is charged with one count of breach of recognizance and two counts of breach of probation.

3. A 32-year-old male was arrested on Sunday afternoon and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common-law-girlfriend by grabbing by then arms and pushing her into the wall. The victim did not require medical attention.

4. A 14-year-old male was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with one count of assault, one count of threatening death and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused and a co-accused of a west end group home assaulted and threatened another resident. The assault consisted of the two accused youths assaulting a fellow group home youth by throwing him to the ground and threatening to kill the victim. The victim did not require medical attention. The accused was on a probation order at the time of this offence.

Young male charged with assault

A 17-year-old male was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with one count of assault, one count of threatening death and one count of breach of probation.
It is alleged that the accused and a co-accused of a west end group home assaulted and threatened another resident. The assault consisted of the two accused youths assaulting a fellow group home youth by throwing him to the ground and threatening to kill the victim. The victim did not require medical attention. The accused was on a probation order at the time of this offence.

Man arrested for fraud and uttering charges

On Friday June 27th city police arrested 18-year-old Michael Ferriera, of 6 Hawthorne Ave. and charged him with one count of possession of stolen property, one count of fraud, one count of uttering a forged document, one count of breach of probation and three counts of attempted fraud. It is alleged that on May 11th the accused was in possession of a credit card that was reported stolen from a vehicle earlier in the day, and then used the credit card at several stores in the Cambrian Mall obtaining approx. $ 38.33 worth of merchandise. The accused is then alleged to have returned to the stores and again attempted to use the stolen credit card but was refused service.

Man Charged with Assault

On Friday June 27th at approx. 7:45 pm city police arrested 52-year-old Peter Mattalo, of 55 Johnson Ave. and charged him with one count of assault, one count of threatening death and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused was involved in a neighbour dispute during which time he assaulted his neighbour by spraying him with water and then threatened to kill him. At the time of the offence the accused was on a probation order to keep the peace. Mr. Mattalo will be appearing in court on Aug. 11th at 9:00 am.

Impaired driver arrested

On Saturday June 28th at approx. 8:15 pm city police were called to Bay St. at Tancred St. regarding a motor vehicle collision in which the lone vehicle had rolled over onto the driver’s side. Officers upon speaking to the driver detected alcohol on his breath and subsequently arrested him. Charged with impaired driving and drive over 80mgs is 19-year-old Kurtis MacDonald of 211 Spruce St. He will be appearing in court on Aug. 11th at 9:00 am.

Male arrested for break and enter

On Sunday June 29th at approx. 8:30 am a male was seen attempting to break into a shed in the 100 block of Charles St. Witnesses called police and gave a description of a male seen riding off on a bicycle. A short time later police located the suspected and arrested him. At the time of his arrested the accused was carrying a pry bar and bolt cutters. Charged with one count of break and enter and one count of possession of house breaking tools is Elliot Southwind, age 27 of 16 Terry Fox Pl. apt # 8. He will be appearing in court on Aug. 11th at
9:00 am.

Six break and enters over the weekend

City police were called to investigate six reports of break and enter over the weekend. Break-ins were reported at the following areas:

1. A residence in the 400 block of Cathcart St.- unknown what was taken at this time.
2. A residence in the 100 block of Dawson Ave. - jewellery, cash and a camera were reported stolen.
3. An apartment in the 200 block of Dacey Rd. - unknown what was taken.
4. A residence in the 100 block of Wilding Ave. - bicycle taken from a shed.
5. A residence in the 100 block of Palace Dr. - electronic items were stolen.
6. The Sault Ste Marie Gold and Country Club was entered between Friday night and Saturday morning. Liquor was reported stolen.

Six reports of mischief

City police received six reports of mischief over the weekend.

A bus shelter located in front of the YMCA on McNabb St. was reported damaged.
Vehicles were damaged in the 200 block of Carlbert St and in the 500 block of Albert St. W.
A residence in the 100 block of Dennis St. had a window smashed.
An apartment building in the 100 block of Allard St. had graffiti sprayed on the building.

A male on a motorcycle was seen cutting the fence at the rear of the Bayview Athletic Club near Wallace terr. Park. The suspect was wearing a red motorcycle helmet.

Thefts

Police received reports of vehicles entered in the following locations:

1. 100 block of Sutton Pl.
2. 100 block of Cambridge Pl.
3. 200 block of Chambers Ave.
4. 400 block of Shannon Rd.

Stolen Items

Bicycles were stolen at residences in the
100 block of Wellington St.E.
300 block of Albert St. W.
100 block of Albert St. E.

A canoe- school bus yellow in colour, was stolen from a residence in the 600 block of North St.

A purse was stolen from a residence in the 600 block of Goulais Ave.

A wallet was reported stolen in the Station Mall.
