Male Inmate Charged with Mischief Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 31 year-old James Purcell at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre on the 26th of June and charged him with one count of mischief.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 31 year-old James Purcell at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre on the 26th of June and charged him with one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 25th of June, the accused, while an inmate at Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre, caused damage to the window of his cell.

Female Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
Officers with Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 29 year-old Johanna Leveille of 140 Church Street (upstairs) on the 26th of June at 3:18 pm on Elgin Street on an outstanding warrant and charged her with one count of fail to attend court. It is alleged that on the 4th of April the accused failed to attend court with regards to a theft related charge.

Male Arrested for Vehicle Theft
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Randy Ingram of 358 Bloor Street West on the 25th of June at 2:30 am at his residence and charged him with one count of theft over $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that on the 25th of June at approximately 1:25 am the accused attended at Maretta Street and stole a 1995 Plymouth Acclaim. The accused was stopped on Turner Avenue by police but fled the area on foot. He was located approximately one hour later at his residence and subsequently arrested.

Male Arrested for Shoplifting
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 39 year-old Clinton Perrault of 314 Albert Street East on the 24th of June at 2:10 pm on Queen Street East and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000 and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 24th of June the accused attended at the Station Mall LCBO store and stole two bottles of liquor. At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order with conditions that he not attend at the store and was to keep the peace and be good.

Male Arrested for Breach of Release Documents
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 30 year-old Gilbert Stone of 321 Albert Street East on the 24th of June at 11:40 pm on Cathcart Street and charged him with two counts of breach of a release document. Officers investigating a suspicious person complaint on Cathcart Street found the accused in an intoxicated state and when they ran a check on him it revealed that he was on a recognizance order with conditions not to consume alcohol and also discovered that he had not made a change of address to police.

Two Domestic Related Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 46 year-old male on the 26th of June at 12:25 pm and charged him with one count of threaten death or bodily harm, one count of forcible confinement and three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that between the 1st of May and the 1st of June while at a local hotel he threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and also would not let her leave when she tried to. At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order with conditions that he not communicate with the victim, not harass, molest or physically interfere with her and he was to keep the peace and be good.

In seperate incident, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 21 year-old female on the 27th of June at 1:10 am on an outstanding domestic related warrant and charged her with two counts of breach of a release document.

Male Youth Arrested for Assault
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17 year-old male youth on the 24th of June at the police station and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 22nd of June the accused attended at a local high school and assaulted a male known to him. The accused is to appear in court on the 26th of June.

Male Youth Arrested for Arson to clothing bin at Market Mall
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 12 year-old youth on the 26th of June at 3:40 pm and charged him with one count of arson and one count of possession of incendiary device. It is alleged that on the 26th of June at approximately 3:15 pm, the Sault Ste. Marie Police and Fire Services attended at the parking lot of the Market Mall at 275 Second Line West regarding a fire to one of the clothing donation bins. Investigation revealed that some rubber beside one of the bins was set on fire causing blackness to the bricks and metal siding of one of the buildings.

Officers were able to speak to witnesses at the scene, commenced an investigations and as a result the accused was charged in relation to the arson. At the time of his arrest he was found in possession of a Bic lighter as well as a 20 pack of flammable sparklers. The youth is to appear in court on the 26th of July.

Male Arrested for Assault
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 46 year-old Gary Richer of 113 Simpson Street on the 26th of June at 12:15 am at the police station and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 25th of June at approximately 10:45 pm the accused assaulted a male known to him while he was walking on Simpson Street. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. The accused is to appear in court on the 25th of July.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 21 year-old Giusseppe Sardo of 167 Tancred Street on an outstanding warrant and charged him with one count of fail to attend for prints. It is alleged that he failed to appear for prints on the 16th of May. He is to appear in court on the 8th of August.
