Male Charged with Threatening to Cause Death

A 43-year old male will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested in relation to a domestic incident. It is alleged that on June 12th the accused threatened his common-law wife while in their downtown residence. The male has been charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm.

Man Turns Self In

On Friday evening 58-year old Richard Allen of 692 Fourth Line East turned himself into City Police. Mr. Allen was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear in court. It is alleged the accused failed to attend court last year on 5 charges under the Income Tax Act. Mr. Allen will appear in bail court this morning.


Drinking and Driving Related Offences

1) On June 11th information was received regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Connaught Avenue. Officers in the area started to check for the impaired driver and observed the car in question traveling westbound on Connaught Avenue. Officers observed the driver fail to stop completely at stop signs along Connaught and First Avenue, Prentice Avenue and Turner Avenue before they were able to stop the driver. Charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit is 60-year old David Desjardins of 81 Glasgow Avenue. He will appear in court on July 12th.

2) 29-year old Scott Kingston of 90 Locke Street South, Hamilton, and Ontario caught the attention of officers conducting the R.I.D.E program early Sunday morning. It is alleged that on the 12th of June just before 2 am officers observed the accused driving the wrong way on Cathcart Street. Officers were set up on Gore Street and Wellington Street. Police tried to stop the accused who continued traveling southbound on Gore Street, the wrong way. Officers followed the car and were able to stop it in the area of the Bus terminal on Queen Street East. The driver showed obvious sign of impairment. Mr. Kingston has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit and will appear in court on July 18th.

3) 24-year old Crystal Jones of 84 Eagle Street, Garden River was arrested yesterday morning just before 8 am after information had been received about a possible impaired driver. Officers stopped the accused on Trunk Road and found her to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit and will appear in court on July 18th.

Youth Charged With Mischief

A 15-year old will appear in court on July 19th after being arrested yesterday morning. It is alleged that the youth attended at the residence of a family member just before 6 am. When the family member refused to let the youth into their home because of the youth being intoxicated, it is alleged the youth broke to victim’s door. At the time of the offence the accused was on release conditions not to molest, harass or annoy the victim. Officers also learned that on June 4th the youth stole a bicycle out of the rear of a vehicle. On that date officers attended in the area regarding the theft of the bike but the youth fled the scene with the stolen bike. The theft of the bike occurred on Trunk Road. The youth has been charged with one count of mischief, one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and 2 counts of breach of a release order. The youth will appear in court on July 19th.


City Police Currently Investigating Break and Enters:

1) A shed in the 100 block of Nichol Avenue was entered overnight between the 9th and 10th and a bike helmet was taken.

2) H.M. Robbins School was entered on the 11th of June around 3 am but nothing appears to have been taken.

3) A homeowner called the Police on Saturday to report the theft of 2 stereo speakers that occurred on the 9th of June to a home in the 100 block of St. Georges Avenue East.

4) A home in the 300 block of Trunk Road was entered yesterday during the day time hours and thieves made off with a karaoke machine, a large number of CD’s and a tool box.
