The following persons are to appear in bail court this morning:

1) 39 year-old Scott Dunseath of 960 Queen Street East (basement) was arrested 12:02 pm on the 6th of July at his residence on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of fail to appear court. The accused was further charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that the accused was found in possession of a small amount of marihuana at the time of his arrested.

2) 49 year-old Donald Jacobs of 720 Wellington Street East was arrested on the 4th of July at 6:40 pm on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of resist peace officer, one count of intoxicated in a public place and two counts of breach of a release order. It is alleged that on the 4th of July around 6:12 pm city police received a call to the rear parking lot of a local restaurant on Great Northern Road regarding a possible intoxicated male. When officers located the male he was found lying in a grassy area of the lot passed out. When officers woke the male up they discovered he was intoxicated. The accused began to struggle with the officersand he was arrested. At the time of his arrested he was on release conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to notify his change of address.

3) 26 year-old Elliott Southwind of #8-16 Terry Fox Place was arrested on the 4th of July at 6:18 pm on Pine Street and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of assault, one count of robbery and one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 4th of July around 4:25 pm the accused attempted to steal a bicycle in the rear parking lot of an apartment complex on Pine Street. When he was confronted by a male relative, the accused assaulted him by punching him several times. The accused left the area for a short time and returned with a wrench and swung it several times at the same victim, striking him once in the head area. The accused then stole the victim’s bike. The victim was treated at the hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

Domestic Related Arrests – All appearing in bail court this morning:

1) A 23 year-old male was arrested on the 4th of July at 8:32 pm at his residence on an outstanding warrant regarding a domestic dispute with his girlfriend from the 20th of May. He was charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief.

2) A 22 year-old male was arrested on the 4th of July at 3:30 pm at his residence and charged with threatened death or bodily harm, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of mischief, one count of fail to appear court and two counts of breach of a release order. It is alleged that on the 3rd of July the accused called his ex-girlfriend on the phone and threatened to go to her residence and break the door in and shoot her with a gun. At the time of the incident the accused was on condition not to communicate with her and was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear court on the 18th of June.

3) A 37 year-old male was arrested on the 4th of July at 4:42 pm at his residence and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of mischief. It is alleged that on the 30th of June the accused broke the side mirror of his common law girlfriend’s vehicle at their residence. Officers also learned through investigation that the two also got into a verbal argument at their residence on the 30th of November and it is alleged that the accused struck the victim in the arm area with a meat clever. No injuries were reported.

4) A 57 year-old male was arrested on the 5th of July at 10:30 pm at his residence and charged with two counts of threaten death or bodily harm, three counts of breach of a release order and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 5th of July around 9 pm the accused contacted his ex-wife by telephone and threatened to burn her house down and shoot her and her family. At the time of the incident the accused was on conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and that he not communicate with the victim or molest, harass or physically interfere with her.

5) A 24 year-old male was arrested on the 6th of July at 4:25 am at his residence and charged with one count of assault, and two counts of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 6th of July the accused got into a verbal argument with his ex-girlfriend at her residence and assaulted her by grabbing her around the throat and throwing her into a couch. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. At the time of the incident thee accused was on conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and he was also in breach of his curfew conditions.

Property Crimes Reported over the Weekend:

Break and Enters:

1) A residence on Strand Avenue was entered sometime between the 4th of July after 12:20 am and the 5th of July around 10:30 am. A laptop computer, a digital camera and some jewellery were reported stolen.

2) A residence on Pawating Place was entered on the 5th of July sometime between 10:30m am and 10:30 pm. Two Flat Screen televisions were reported stolen.

3) A residence on Lorna Drive was entered sometime between 3 pm on the 5th of July to 10 am on the 6th. A PS2, games and DVD’S were reported stolen.

Mischief Reports:

1) The bus shelter in front of Algoma University on Queen Street East had the glass smashed.

2) Several vehicles in the lot at the Autorama Dealership on Black Road were damaged sometime overnight on the 4th of July.

3) A male smashed a window of a vehicle that was parked at a local downtown bar on the 5th of July around 4:30 am. The male was approximately 19 years of age, 5’4”, thin build, short hair and was wearing a polo shirt and beige shorts.

4) A vehicle that was parked in the rear lot of Queen Street East near Brock Street was damaged sometime overnight on the 5th of July. The windows were all smashed out.

5) A vehicle parked on Cambridge Place was damaged two nights in a row over the weekend.

6) A brick was thrown through window of a residence in the 600 block of Queen Street West on the 7th of July around 1 am.

7) Two motorbikes that were parked in a lot on Silver Birch Drive were damaged when they were pushed over.

Thefts Reported over the Weekend:

Yesterday evening at approximately 11:55 pm a male stole a small amount of cash from the Burger King drive through window on Great Northern Rd. In the incident the suspect rode a bicycle up to the cashier’s window, reached in through the take-out window and stole money from the cash till. He was last seen riding west on McNabb St. He is described as male, 16-20 years of age, short hair wearing a white t-shirt.

A lock box was reported stolen from the Y.M.C.A. on Friday July 4th.

Bicycles were reported stolen from the following residences:

Panoramic Drive. - two bicycles were stolen.
Simpson Street, Rex Avenue and Centennial Avenue - all reported one bicycle taken.
A Kodak digital camera was stolen from a vehicle parked at a residence on Arbor Drive on July 5th.
A resident in the 100 block of Parkland Crescent reported that a white pine tree was dug out of the ground in the front yard and stolen.
