Eight persons to appear in bail court

On Friday July 2nd members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service attended at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre and charged a 20-year-old male with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted another inmate by punching him in the head several times. Victim suffered minor injuries. Charged is Shane Yukich, age 20 of 266 John St. Apt # 1.

On Saturday July 3rd at approximately 10:00 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service attended a downtown residence and arrested a 52-year-old male on one charge of assault and two charges of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused male assaulted his common-law-wife by grabbing her by the arms. It is further alleged that the accused was on a probation order release with conditions to not harass or molest the victim and to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. The accused had been drinking at the time of this offence.

On Saturday July 3rd at approximately 10:00 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 17-year-old male on several warrants. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear for identification purposes on June 8th and failed to appear for court on June 29th. The accused was originally arrested on charges of theft under $ 5,000 and mischief.

On Saturday July 3rd members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service attended at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre and charged a 28-year-old male with one count of assault and one count of threatening. It is alleged that in March 2010 the accused assaulted his ex-common-law girlfriend by punching and choking her. Victim did suffer minor injuries as a result of the assault. It is further alleged that the accused threatened to kill the victim.

On Saturday July 3rd at approximately 11:00 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 30-year-old male on one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused male assaulted his common-law partner by slapping her in the face. The victim did not require medical attention.

On Sunday July 4th members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 34-year-old male and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of July 4th the accused assaulted his common-law- wife by grabbing and choking her. The victim did not require medical attention.

Early this morning members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 38-year-old male on one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of production of a substance. It is alleged that while police were at the residence of the accused, on another unrelated matter, the officers location several marihuana plants. It is further alleged that upon being arrested and searched the officers located a small amount of marihuana on his person. Charged with possession of a controlled substance and production of a substance is Gary Barkley, age 38, of 168 Pim St.

On Sunday July 4th at approximately 12:00 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 30-year-old male on a charge of sexual assault. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of July 4th the accused male sexually assaulted a female known to him, at his residence.

Male arrested for assault

On Saturday July 3rd members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 24-year-old male on a charge of assault. It is alleged that the accused male assaulted another male person, known to him, by punching the victim several times in the head. The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention. The accused will be appearing in court on August 9th at 9:00 am on a charge of assault.

Theon Haggart- Hewitt, age 24, of 31 Charlotte St. is charged with the above offence.

Break and enter

Residences were broken into in the following locations:

The 300 block of Cathcart St – electronics were stolen.
The 300 block of Franklin St – unknown items were taken.
The 400 block of John St. - a bicycle was stolen from a shed.
The 100 block of Tilley Rd- unknown items were taken.

Theft

Vehicles were entered in the following locations:
The 100 block of Railroad Ave- electronics were stolen.
The 300 block of Princess Cr. - cash and personal identification was taken.
The 1300 block of Old Garden River Rd. – a purse was stolen.
The 100 block of Wallace Terr. – miscellaneous items were taken.
The 100 block of Paradise Ave - miscellaneous items were taken.
The 500 block of Third Line E. – tools were taken.
Numerous vehicles were entered in the 500, 900, 1200 and 1300 blocks of Fourth Line E. – electronics and cash were stolen.
Bicycles were reported stolen from the 100 block of Pawating Pl. and the 100 block of East St.

Mischief

A front window was broken at a residence in the 100 block of Grandmont Cr.
A vehicle window was broken in the 100 block of Fourth Line W.
