Three persons to appear in bail court: 1)Gray Latvanen, age 36, of 282 Cathcart St.
Three persons to appear in bail court:

1)Gray Latvanen, age 36, of 282 Cathcart St. was arrested on Friday July 10th and charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000, three counts of breach of probation and also on a warrant for two counts of theft under $ 5,ooo. It is alleged that on Friday July 10th the accused was seen leaving the A& P Store, located at 228 Northern Ave with a shopping bag filled with meat items. The accused did not pay for the meat items. Value of the groceries was $ 80.49. It is further alleged that on July 6th and 7th the accused was also seen stealing groceries. At the time of all these offences the accused was on a probation order release.

2)On Saturday July 12th at approx 11:30 pm city police attended at a residence on Hudson St. regarding an unwanted person. Upon arrival officers located Craig Muddimer, age 46, of 751 Hwy 17 N, Heyden in the residence. It is alleged that the accused breached conditions of his recognizance release order by not being in his residence between the hours of 10:00 pm and 6:00 am and also being under the influence of alcohol. It is also alleged that at the time of these offence the accused was on approbation order release. Mr. Muddimer is charged with two counts of breach of recognizance and one count of breach of probation.

3)A 28-year-old male was arrested on Sunday July 12th and charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of an undertaking release order. It is alleged that on Sunday July 12th at approx. 1:00 am the accused assaulted his wife by punching several times to the head. It is further alleged that at the time of the offence the accused was on an undertaking release order to not communicate with his wife. The victim did not require medical attention.

Male arrested for assault with a weapon:

On Wednesday July 8th at approx. 6:30 pm city police were called to a residence in the 200 block of McNabb St. regarding an assault with a knife. Upon arrival officers spoke to a male complainant and were informed that a male known to him had threatened him with a knife. The suspect is alleged to have pulled a knife from his pocket and was going towards the victim when another person stopped the accused. The suspect, Stephen Bradley, was located on July 10th and arrested. Stephen Bradley, age 27, of 62 Killarney Rd. is charged with one count of assault with a weapon. He will be appearing in court on Aug. 10th at 9:00 am.

Male arrested for Assaulting police:

On Friday July 10th at approx.6:30 pm police were called to Breton Rd. regarding a suspicious male. Upon arrival officers located the male and while speaking to him it is alleged that the accused became aggressive and assaulted one of the officers. It is further alleged that the accused then resisted arrest. At the time of these offences the accused was on a probation order release with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. Charged with one count of assault police, one count of resist arrest and one count of breach of probation is Nathan Vandette, age 21, of 113 Breton Rd. he will be appearing in court on Aug 10th at 9:00 am.

Female arrested for assault:

On Friday July 1oth at approx. 4:00 pm city police were called to a residence on Churchill Ave regarding an assault. Upon arrival officers spoke to a female complainant and as a result arrested a second female. It is alleged that the accused, Irene Sardo, age 39, of 138 Churchill Ave., assaulted the victim by first slapping the victim in the face and then striking her with a coffee mug in the hand which resulted in injuries to the victim’s wrist and hand. The victim attended at the Sault Area Hospital for treatment. Irene Sardo is charged with one count of assault and one count of assault with a weapon. She will be appearing in court on Aug 10th at 9:00 am.

Two males arrested for assault and threatening:

Early this morning city police were called to the area of Lake St and Trunk Rd. regarding an assault. Upon arrival officers were given information by a male victim. As a result the officers arrested two males and charged each of them with one count of assault and one count of threatening. It is alleged that the two accused Logan Hayes, age 21, of 158 Manitou Dr. and Jonathan Gagnon, age 22, of 112 Smale Ave punched and choked the victim. The victim did not require medical attention. The accused Hayes and Gagnon will both be appearing in court on Aug 17th at 9:00 am.

Property Crimes:

Break and enter:


A residence in the 100 block of Bellevue Ave was entered – jewelry was stolen.
Alexander Henry high School was entered on the weekend. It is unknown if anything was taken as the alarm was activated and may have frightened the culprits.
Power tools were stolen from a break-in at a residence in the 300 block of Wilson Ave.
The Indian Friendship Centre, located at 268 Wellington St. W was entered - electronic equipment was taken.
Prescription drugs and a small amount of cash were taken from a residence in the 300 block of Goulais Ave.

Mischief:

A fence was damaged at Holy Family School located at 44 Broadway Ave.
A vehicle parked in the 100 block of East St. was damaged over the weekend.

Thefts:

A bike and shop equipment was stolen from a garage in the 100 block of Manitou Dr.

Vehicles were entered at the following location:

The 100 block of Breton Rd. Two vehicles were entered– groceries were taken from one car and electronic equipment was taken from the second vehicle.
The 200 block of East Balfour St – electronics and a purse were reported stolen.
The 400 block of Carmen’s Way – unknown what was taken.
The 100 block of St. Basil’s Dr. – unknown what was taken.

City police received two complaints of thefts from the Plummer Hospital on Sunday. Thieves stole a purse from a change room and cash from a sweater in a private lounge. The public is reminded not to leave any items unattended in any public location.
