The following four persons are to appear in bail court this morning: 1) 34 year-old Andrew Jackson of no fixed address was arrested on the 3rd of January at 10:10 pm at an apartment on Pine Street and charged with one count of assault with a weapon,
The following four persons are to appear in bail court this morning:

1) 34 year-old Andrew Jackson of no fixed address was arrested on the 3rd of January at 10:10 pm at an apartment on Pine Street and charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of assault causing bodily harm, one count of resist peace officer and two count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 3rd of January at approximately 8:35 pm city police attended at Sault Area Hospitals regarding an assault complaint that involved a female that had been struck with a beer bottle. Police learned that assault had taken place at her apartment on Pine Street just a short time before. The accused, who was temporarily staying at her apartment, assaulted her and her boyfriend after getting into a verbal argument with them while they were all drinking. The accused struck the 40 year-old female victim in the face with a beer bottle two times and punched the 52 year-old male in the face and head several times. Both victims required medical attention to treat non-life threatening injuries. Officers attended at the apartment and arrested the accused. During the arrest, the accused resisted the officers by continuously struggling, attempting to pull away, refusing to stand and walk with the officers. The accused was on probation at the time of the incident with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

2) A 38 year-old male was arrested on the 4th of January at 3:26 am at his residence and charged with two counts of criminal harassment. It is alleged that during the evening hours on the 3rd of January the accused left several phone messages and sent e-mails to his ex-wife. Officers also learned that the accused had also been driving past her boyfriend’s residence several times during the past couple of nights while she was there.

3) 21 year-old Keith Crack of no fixed address was arrested on the 3rd of January at 1:10 am on East Street and charged with one count of unlawfully at large, two counts of breach of probation and one count of resist peace officer. It is alleged that on the 28th of November the accused failed to report and attend at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre as part of a weekend intermittent sentence order. Officers located the accused at an apartment on East Street and while arresting him, he resisted the officers by grabbing and flailing his arms at them.

4) An 18 year-old male was arrested on the 3rd of January at 1:54 pm at a downtown residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 2nd of January around 11:30 pm the accused got into a verbal argument with his common law partner at their residence and assaulted her by striking her in the face with the back of his hand. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

Impaired Driver Arrested:

21 year-old Helen Harvey of 16 Varsity Avenue was arrested on the 3rd of January at 11:25 pm on Boundary Road and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide breath sample. It is alleged that on the 3rd of January at approximately 11:25 pm city police attended at the intersection of Boundary Road and Bennett Boulevard after a witness reported a possible impaired driver that had driven into the snowbank. When officers arrived they spoke with the witness and observed the vehicle stuck in the snowbank and the female driver attempting to push it out. Offices discovered that she was under the influence of alcohol and arrested her. The accused refused to provide a breath sample at the police station. She is to appear in court on the 9th of February.

Wal-Mart Employee Charged with Theft:

37 year-old John Lilic of 56 Ferguson Avenue was arrested on the 3rd of January at 8:15 am at Wal-Mart on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 3rd of January around 8:10 am city police attended at the store after receiving information of an internal theft involving Lilic who was an employee. When officers arrived they discovered that store staff had apprehended the accused in the parking lot after he stole nine MP3 players. He is to appear in court on the 2nd of February.
