The following five persons were arrested as a result of domestic/family dispute related incidents.
The following five persons were arrested as a result of domestic/family dispute related incidents. All are to appear in bail court this morning:

1) A 43 year-old male was arrested on the 3rd of January at 5:20 pm at his residence and charged with one count of assault, one count of overcome resistance by choking, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that between the 2nd and 3rd of January the accused assaulted his common law partner at their residence by punching, kicking and choking her. Further, the accused threatened to kill the victim during the incident. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. At the time of the incident the accused as on probation with condition that he not harass, annoy the victim and to keep the peace and be good.

2) A 54 year-old male was arrested on the 3rd of January at 2:35 pm at his residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 3rd of January the accused got into a verbal argument with his wife at their residence and assaulted her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result.

3) A 29 year-old male was arrested on the 1st of January at 1:10 pm at his a downtown residence and charged with one count of assault and one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 1st of January at 12:30 pm the accused attended at his girlfriend’s residence, got into a verbal argument with her and assaulted her. The victim received non-life threatening injures as a result. At the time of the incident the accused was on an undertaking with conditions not to harass, annoy or physically interfere with the victim.

4) A 16 year-old female youth was arrested on the 2cnd of January at 3:39 pm at her residence and charged with two count of assault with a weapon and two counts of threaten death or bodily harm. On the 2nd of January at 3:10 pm city police were called to a family dispute at the residence of the accused. It is alleged that the accused got into a verbal dispute with two of her family members and during the dispute she grabbed a knife from the kitchen and made threatening gestures towards them and also threatened to kill them.

5) A 45 year-old male was arrested on the 31st of December at 7:37 pm at his residence and charged with one count of assault and one count of breach or probation. It is alleged that on the 31st of December at 7:30 pm the accused assaulted his common-law partner at their residence and he assaulted her. At the time of the incident the accused was on conditions to keep the peace and be good.

Male Charged with Assault:

22 year-old Darren Kudyba of #2-225 Huron Street was arrested on the 31st of December at 9:15 pm at his residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 31st of December at around 9 pm the accused attended at the residence of a male known to him and assaulted him. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Assaulting Police Officer:

Joshua Isaac Tadashore, 19, of 138 Queensgate Boulevard was arrested on the 3rd of January at 12:08 am on Churchill Boulevard and charged with one count of assault police, one count of resisting arrest and one count of threatening death. It is alleged that police received a call regarding a suspicious male in that area just after midnight. When the police located the male, the accused, it is alleged that he punched and threatened to kill one of the officers and then attempted to flee. The accused was quickly apprehended and continued to struggle with the officers. He is to appear in court on the 8th of February.

Snow Machine Collision results in Impaired Driving Charges:

21 year-old Rheal Daoust of 58 Algoma Avenue was arrested on the 3rd of January at 11:58 pm on Goetz Avenue and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. On the 3rd of January around 11:44 pm city police received a call regarding a snow machine collision at the corner of Goetz Avenue and Bonney Street. It is alleged that the accused had been operating his snow machine at a high rate of speed southbound on Goetz Avenue when he lost control, crashed into a fence and was thrown from the machine. The accused was treated for non-life threatening injuries by paramedics at the scene. Officers discovered the accused to be under the influence of alcohol and he was subsequently arrested. The snow machine and fence were moderately damaged as a result of the collision. The accused is to appear in court on the 8th of February.

Weekend Property Crimes:

Break and Enter Reports:


• A residence on Gagnon Road was entered on the 1st of January. Cash and an iPod were reported stolen.
• A construction trailer on the Algoma University property was broken into sometime overnight on the 31st of December. Tools were reported stolen.

Theft Reports:

• Vehicles were broken into on Cooper Street and Rossmore Road. Wallets were reported stolen.
• A diamond pendant was reported stolen from a room at the F.J. Davey Home.
• An electric guitar was reported stolen at Pauline’s Place.
• A licence plate was stolen off a vehicle on the 2nd of January in the staging area off of McNabb Street.

Mischief Reports:

Vehicles were vandalized on Langdon Road, Broadview Drive, Eden Square, Second Line West and in the Highland Ford Sales lot on Great Northern Road.

RIDE Program Results from the 31st of December:

The RIDE Program was out on the evening of 31st of December. There were 459 vehicles checked with four roadside tests administered. No other charged were laid.

Traffic Services Requesting Public’s Assistance with Motor Vehicle Collision Investigation:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Traffic Unit is requesting the public’s assistance with their investigation into a motor vehicle collision that took place on the 28th of December at 11:33 pm that occurred at the intersection of Second Line West and Goulais Avenue. The collision involved a red transport trailer truck and a red jeep.
