Home Robbery Currently Under Investigation Update:

Investigation Services are currently investigating a robbery that took place overnight at a residence on Pim Street. Officers received a call regarding a disturbance and a possible home invasion around midnight. Police apprehended three males at the scene and four others were arrested throughout the night. Two persons received non-life threatening injuries during the incident. Seven persons are currently in custody and are facing numerous charges. The investigation is ongoing.

Update:

Investigation Services officers have charged three males in relation to the robbery and two females for obstructing their investigation. It is alleged that the accused males forced their way into the residence with their faces covered and were armed with a hammer and knife. Two males that were inside the residence at the time were forcibly confined, robbed of some cash and assaulted. The victims received non-life threatening injuries as a result. Two females that allegedly obstructed police with their investigation at the scene were also charged. All five are attending in bail court on Tuesday morning. The investigation is ongoing.

1) Shaun Mearow, age 30, of 2643 Mission Road Goulais River has been charged with one count of forcible entry, one count of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of forcible confinement, one count of robbery with a weapon, one count of disguise with intent and one count of breach of probation.

2) Blake Hudson, age 29, of #3-28 Hughes Street has been charged with one count of forcible entry, one count of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of forcible confinement, one count of robbery with a weapon, one count of disguise with intent and one count of breach of probation.

3) Michael Leclair, age 21, of no fixed address has been charged with one count of forcible entry, one count of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of forcible confinement, one count of robbery with a weapon and one count of disguise with intent.

4) Kimberley Robinson, age 19 of #3-167 Pim Street was charged with one count of obstruct police.

5) Sophia Mallia, age 22 of #3-167 Pim Street was charged with one count of obstruct police.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 19 year-old Christian Patterson of 43 Panoramic Drive on the 28th of January at 11:30 am on an outstanding warrant and charged him with one count of fail to appear court. It is alleged that the accused failed to attend court on the 12th of December in relation to an assault charge. He is to appear in court on the 5th of March.

Male Arrested for Mischief and Weapon Offenses

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 26 year-old Lance Wabigwan of #14-549 Cathcart Street on the 28th of January at 7:09 am at his residence and charged him with one count of mischief, one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon, one count of possession contrary to order and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 28th of January the accused kicked in a hallway door at 549 Cathcart Street, causing damage to it. At the time, the accused was bound by a probation order to keep the peace and be good, which he breached. Upon searching the accused, police located a hatchet like weapon in his jacket pocket. The accused is to appear in court on the 27th of February.

Break and Enter/Theft Reports:

  • An apartment in the 400 block of Wellington Street East was broken into sometime between the 24th to the 27th of January. Items taken included a television, a camera, a car charger and a PS3.

  • A residence on Ruth Street was broken into last week. It is not known what was taken at this time.

  • A residence on Peoples Road was broken into on the 29th of January. Numerous items were reported taken.

  • A residence on Allen’s Side Road was broken into on the 28th of January. Medication and jewellery were reported taken.

  • A residence on Wilson Street was broken into on the 27th of January. A Nintendo Wii, accessories and games were reported taken.

  • A residence on Morin Street was broken into Friday overnight. Jewellery and cash were reported taken.

  • A business on Wellington Street West was broken into sometime overnight on the 27th-28th of January. Money was reported taken.

  • An attempt break and enter was reported to a business on Wellington Street West on the 27th of January at approximately 11:32 pm. Two males wearing dark clothing and carrying a duffle bag were observed attempting to break into the rear door of the business but were scarred off by a witness. Police checked the area with negative results.

  • A storage unit on John Street was broken into sometime during the past 10 days. Numerous items were reported taken.

  • An attempt break and enter occurred to a residence on Farwell Terrace sometime overnight from the 28th-29th of January.

  • An attempt break and enter was reported to a business on Wellington Street West on the 28th of January at approximately 3:57 am. The front door was smashed but no entry was gained.

  • Vehicles were entered on Bainbridge Street, Northern Avenue, and Rossmore Road. Change, wallets and a proxy card were reported stolen.

R.I.D.E. Program Results:

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service conducted the R.I.D.E. Program on Saturday evening. There were 313 vehicles checked. Two drivers were charged with driving while under suspension and 6 other Provincial Offense Notices were issued.

Domestic Related Arrests:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested two males in relation to a domestic related incident from the 29th of January.  It is alleged that at approximately 1:43 am a 48 year-old male assaulted his wife outside a local bar following a verbal argument.  Witnesses intervened and the accused left prior to police arrival. 

A short time later, the accused was assaulted by his step-son at their residence.  The accused suffered serious injuries as a result and was transported to hospital by ambulance.  He remains hospitalized and is facing one count of assault.   The 21-year-old step-son has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and is to appear in bail court this morning. 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 21 year-old female on the 29th of January at 7:10 pm at her residence and charged her with one count of assault police.  It is alleged that on the 29th of January officers attended at the residence of the accused in relation to a domestic dispute and were spat on by the accused.  The accused is to appear in court on the 29th of January. 

Two Males Arrested for Residence Break and Enter:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 30 year-old Shaun Mearow of 2643 Mission Road, Goulais River and 28 year-old Michael Radford of  655 Wallace Terrace (upstairs)  on the 27th of January in relation to a residence break and enter.  It is alleged that on the 27th of January at 2:30 pm the accused, Shaun Mearow along with co-accused, Michael Radford and another male broke into a residence on Gagnon Road and stole some jewellery, coins and liquor.  Police know the identity of the third male and are attempting to locate him.  Further charges are pending.  Both accused males were charged with one count of break and enter and are to appear in court on the 27th of February. 

Two Males Charged with Theft: 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 30 year-old Garrett White of Room #35-864 Queen Street East and 19 year-old Nory Hogan of 31 Grace Street on the 27th of January in relation to a theft complaint.  It is alleged that on the on the 23rd of January the two accused persons attended at the residence of a male known to them and stole numerous items from his residence.  Both were charged with one count of theft under $5,000.  The accused Nory Hogan is to appear in court on the 27th of February.  Further, the accused Garrett White was also wanted on outstanding warrants and was charged with one count of fail to appear for prints and one count of fail to appear for court.  He is to appear in bail court this morning.
