Two Domestic Related Arrests for Bail Court Appearance this Morning: 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 44 year-old male on the 21st of January at 6:38 pm at his residence and charged him with one count of assault and one count of mischief.  It is alleged that on the 21st of January at approximately 6:30 pm the accused assaulted his ex-girlfriend at her residence during a domestic dispute.  Further, the accused damaged a phone cord.  He is to appear in bail court this morning. 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 34 year-old female on the 21st of January at 10:10 pm and charged her with one count of threaten death and one count of breach of probation.  It is alleged that on the 20th of January she called her ex-boyfriend and threatened to kill him.  At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order with conditions that she not contact or communicate with the victim.  She is to appear in bail court this morning. 

Male Arrested for Breaching Release Documents:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 29 year-old David Wilson of 668 Farwell Terrace on the 20th of January at 10:25 pm and charged him with two counts of breach of probation.  It is alleged that on the 20th of January the accused was unlawfully at large from the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre.  He was to report in at the Centre at 8 pm on Friday evening as part of his undertaking and probation order conditions, and did not attend until 10:15 pm.  Further, he was to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.  The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Disqualified Driving:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Christopher Simpson-Johnston of 13 Broadview Drive on the 20th of January at 1:10 pm on Korah Road and charged him with one count of operate motor vehicle while disqualified.  It is alleged that on January 20th at approximately 1:00 pm officers observed the accused driving a 1997 Dodge Saturn on Second Line and at the time he was disqualified from driving due to an impaired driving charge.  Officers stopped the vehicle on Korah Road and the accused was subsequently arrested.  He is to appear in court on the 27th of February.

Female Charged with Theft:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 40 year-old Shannon Edwards of no fixed address on the 22nd of January at 8:35 pm and charged her with one count of theft under $5,000.  It is alleged that on the 20th of January the accused attended at a residence of a person known to her and stole two tool sets. The accused is to appear in court on the 27th of February. 

Female Charged with Assault:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 26 year-old Andrea Whistance-Smith on the 21st of January at 10:20 pm at her residence and charged her with one count of assault.  It is alleged that the accused was wanted for an incident from the 30th of October, 2011 when she allegedly assaulted a staff member while she was at Sault Area Hospital.  The accused is to appear in court on the 27th of February.

Male Youth Charged with Theft:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 16 year-old male youth on the 22nd of January at 9 pm and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000.  It is alleged that the accused was wanted for a theft incident from the 29th of December when he allegedly stole a purse from a patron while at a local bar.   The accused is to appear in court on the 28th of February. 

Break and Enter and Theft Reports:

  • A residence on Elmwood Avenue was entered on the on the 22nd of January.  A Toshiba laptop was reported stolen.
  •  An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence on Malabar Drive at around 1:48 pm on the 23rd of January.
  • A set of keys were taken from a vehicle on Glasgow Avenue.
  • Gas was reported stolen from a U-Haul truck on Bruce Street.

Mischief Reports: 

  • Vehicle tires were slashed on Wiber Street.
  • A vehicle being driven in the area of McNabb Street was egged.
  • A vehicle parked in a lot on Great Northern Road had a window and mirror broken.
