Motor Vehicle Collisions On the 17th of January at 1:12 pm City police attended at a motor vehicle collision involving three vehciles at the intersection of Pine Street and McNabb Street.

On the 17th of January at 1:12 pm City police attended at a motor vehicle collision involving three vehciles at the intersection of Pine Street and McNabb Street. It is alleged that the driver of a Pontiac Van that was travelling eastbound on McNabb Street failed to stop for the red light at the intersection and struck a Ford that was proceeding northbound on Pine Street. The Ford then struck a third vehicle, a Jeep that had been travelling westbound on McNabb Street. The Ford continued on until it struck the utility pole at the northeast corner. The female driver of the Ford had to be freed from her vehicle by firefighters that had to use the Jaws of Life. She was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries The driver of the Pontiac Van, 54 year-old William Murphy of 77 Promenade Drive was charged with fail to stop for red light under the Highway Traffic Act.
Police and Fire Services also attended at a motor vehicle collision that occurred yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:36 pm at Bay Street and Elgin Street. It is alleged that the driver of a Pontiac that was travelling eastbound on Bay Street failed to stop for the red light at the intersection and struck a Toyota that had been travelling southbound on Elgin Street. The driver of the Toyota, and his male passenger, who had to be extricated from the car by firefighters, were both transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Pontiac, 19 year-old Donald Dauphinais of 46 Forest Avenue was charged with one count of fail to stop for red light under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.


Three Domestic Related Arrests for Bail Court Appearance this Morning

1) A 59 year-old male was arrested on the 16th of January at the city police station and charged with one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that the accused attended at a local business while his ex-wife was present and he was on a court recognizance order with conditions not to attend there.

2) A wanted 41 year-old male was arrested on the 18th of January at 3:45 pm on Huron Street and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 12th of January the accused got into a verbal argument with his girlfriend at her residence and assaulted her.

3) A 40 year-old male was arrested on the 16th of January at 1:05 am at a downtown residence and charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and three counts of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the evening of the 15th of January the accused attended at his ex-girlfriend’s residence, assaulted her and threatened her with a knife. At the time of the offence the accused was under the influence of alcohol while on conditions that he not consume and was also on conditions that he not attend at the victim’s residence or to communicate with her.


Male Impaired Driver Arrested

40 year-old Michael Siegfried of 58 Dauphin Drive was arrested on the 16th of January at 1:44 am on Second Line East and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 16th of January around 1:40 am city police received a call regarding a possible impaired driver that had driven into the ditch on Second Line East just west of Black Road. Officers attended and found the driver, the accused, under the influence of alcohol. He is to appear in court on the 22nd of February.

Two Males Arrested with Drug Related Offences

On the 15th of January at 10:10 am it is alleged that members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Team located two males in a parked vehicle on Albert Street East that were smoking cannabis marijuana. They were found in possession of approximately 3 grams of cannabis marihuana and a toking device. At the time of the offence, both males were bound by the conditions of probation orders to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. As a result, 19 year-old Derek D’Ettorre of 72 Chambers Avenue and a 17 year-old male youth were each charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of breach of probation. The accused D’Ettorre is to appear in court on the 22nd of February and the youth on the 23rd of February.

Male Charges for Damaging Wall at the City Police Station
29 year-old Jeffrey Williams of #102-334 Dacey Road was arrested at the city police station on the 15th of January at 2:30 pm and charged with one count of mischief under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 15th of January at 2:30 pm the accused attend at the city police station to complain about a traffic ticket that he had received. The accused became irate when the on duty Sergeant would not cancel the ticket and he damaged a wall at the station when he punched a whole in it. He is to appear in court on the 22nd of February.

Female Arrested at Local Hotel

22 year-old Helen Harvey of #1-220 Meadow Park Crescent was arrested on the 16th of January at 12:15 am on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of intoxicated in a public place under the Liquor Licence Act and one count of fail to leave premises when directed under the Trespass to Property Act. It is alleged that on the 16th of January just after midnight the accused was in an intoxicated state at a local hotel and refused to leave when directed by hotel staff and police. When she was arrested, she was found in possession of a small bag that contained approximately 12.5 grams of marijuana in it. She is to appear in court on the 22nd of February.
